Hey...I may have a new handle but I still gotta represent the Van Dammage. Another straight to video classic biatches. I don't care what anyone says, his straight to video movies have been awesome. Replicant, Legionairre, In Hell, Desert Heat? And now, Wake Of Death hopes to continue the legacy of great action movies....muhahahahaha. It must be better than the horrendous Alexander.

He's just getting too old, now. There will never be another Blood Sport. That was a badass movie.

Oh well,

JCVD is in excellent shape from what I've read. He's apparently beefing up for his next project 'KUMITE' which starts filming this Monday I believe. From what I've read he's more along the size of when he did Desert Heat, and if you've seen that then you know he's in really good shape there. He's always been in much better physical condition than Steven Seagal has. That guy is a ball nowadays. Here's a little description of the plot:

Kumite" is an action-packed story of courage, friendship, and redemption, set against the backdrop of the most brutal and elite fighting tournament in the world, The Kumite. Vic Latour, the only westerner to ever win the Championship of the Kumite, returns to defend his title after years of alcoholism and despair, overcoming great odds to achieve greater glory.

Apparently there is going to be another Bloodsport. :buttrock:

Don't know about the one movie, but he was in serious shape in Bloodsport. Yeah, Steven was always in pretty piss poor condition. How old is JCVD now, anyhow?

DAMN! That looks bad. :oh_no: Talk about a hasbin. The, "Quest," should have been the sequel.

Bloodsport 2: The next Kumite wasn't that bad. Alex Cardo(Daniel Bernhardt/Agent Johnson) was a BADASS. It even had Pat Morita in it.

I was a huge Van Dame fan up to Universal Soldier 2.

Ever since then I have felt he is washed up. He looks really old to be only 44. Whereas Arnold, Bruce Willis, Sly Stallone, are in their 50's and look better.

I've seen a couple of his straight to video movies, and they are not of the same quality of his earlier movies.

Watching him now is like watching a professional sports player who's playing way past their prime, it's just sad. I'll check out this Kumite movie, but it looks like a desperate attempt to reclaim former glory.

Definitly will see it, I love these movies.

Too bad these newer action movies are not up to par with 80's and 90's action movies.. Nevertheless it's better than nothing at all.

Anyone know what happened to his carreer? He was marked to be the next huge action star but that never really happened.

.

Well it's more like he was already a huge action movie star who fell from grace. He developed a cocaine habit and made worse movies, thats the short of it. Now he's clean and making decent movies still, but the scars of Double Team, Knock-Off and Universal Soldier The Return will make it very hard to break back in to the mainstream. I don't think he'll do it, and thats ok, I still enjoy the movies he does make. Gotta keep an open mind about straight to video stuff, I mean Hollywood isn't really putting out top quality stuff anyway, for instance Alexander. A $24 million generic action movie like Wake of Death will probably entertain me a heck of alot more than a $150 million mess like Alexander.

After the Live action, "Street Fighter," movie I called it quits.

I actually met Van Damme in real life back in 88, when Bloodsport first opened in L.A. He did an autograph signing for the movie poster and wrote, "To my Fan, Rumel." on mine. I know it sounds very Johnny Cage, from the MK movie/games. That's what really happened, though.

Damn shame my Mom threw it away when we moved up here to Washington. I was pretty pissed about that.

Anyway, Van Damme movies have always been my guilty pleasure. Here are a few that I still cherish:

Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Cyborg (I like the main villain, who used, "fucker," a lot)
Double Impact
Lionheart
Universal Soldier
Death Warrant(almost the same as Sly's, "Lock-up," flick)

" You Jackson? You look like a Jackson. That would make you, Frank Ducks."

No, it's Dux.

Oh, like put-up your dukes, right?" -Classic Van Damme
