I did. I just waited a total of 2 hours (15 minute line just to get into the store + a little over 90 minutes waiting to cash out) at best buy to get that deal on the $99 radeon 9600xt. It was insane. The line to check out was literally around the store.Never have I seen so many people going nuts over cheap electronics.

I'll be at the helm Braving it. Hopefully it won't be as bad in the evening or in the photo lab where I work.

Quick q...why do they call it black Friday???

Because retailers hope to be in the black.

i.e. - Making money and not losing it (which would be the red)

I did not go out. I have not gone out on a Black Friday in over 4 years, and 4 yrs ago it was only 'cause I was working at EB.

I had gone out for a bit on BF, but every year it felt like more and more people came out. I can remember when there weren't any real 6-11 sales. I believe Best Buy started doing that type of sale and others saw it got you CRAZY fucking lines out your door before your store even opened, and cashed in on it.

I fucking hate people. Any X-Mas shopping I do is over the Internet. And since I don't buy shit for anyone anymore, I don't do any shopping at all. ;)

Picked up F-Zero GX for $10 new, and scored Ultra-Bust-A-Move and Namco Museum for the Bawks for $25 for both. Good deals.

WORD.

My wife took off this morning before 6 to get us the Family Guy DVD set for only $17.99 {usually about $50 something} for the two of us, but since I was up until 02:35 hours still trying to get used to MGS 3: SE, {I finally get a game that's damn near realistc, and I end up spending half an hour just clearing a small area! And that more or less gets me less in the mood for watching the cut scenes.} so I wasn't going to get up that early. ---I have also not gone out on "Black Friday" in about 8 years. I'm staying in today. I've got 4 true friends in this world and that's enough, since I work for myself I don't have any contemporary "associates" that I have to worry about shopping for, and all the other gifts the wife and I bought in Sept. The whole XMAS season is overrated and most are a bunch of ingrate bastids who don't deserve anything. With so much of the world being against Christ anyhow, the season should be called something else. "Gift Day" or some shit, it stopped being about the Birth of Jesus Christ and family togetherness a long time ago. It's a consumeristic nightmare and not worth the effort + I have to endure all those shitty OLD NAVY commericals. Definately the time of year I'm a misanthropist no doubt, and especially after Thanksgiving day.

For some reason I thought this message when I saw you were the last replier was going to be you posting a pic of a fat chick and a story about how you'd f'her with a survival knife and bury your face in her ass cheeks.

Then I remembered your anti-commercialism thing.. and I clicked.

Yes, unfortunately, and I was planning on staying away from it but I took this Freshman chick to the mall for she set out to be there today by any means necessary and I didn't want for her to wait for the bus. My God  @ standing around in Burdines watching middle-age ladies street fight for handbags, purses, and clothing.

Didn't go to any of the stores but just going by them it looked like a friggin' jungle! Traffic backed up, people driving like maniacs and nothing like watching the 5 am news and seeing hundreds of ppl waiting to get in the stores. No thanks...I don't do the Black Friday thing ;)

I got U2's new CD for $8 - that was well worth it. :buttrock:

I have a weak spot for special color consoles, so I bought a Pearl White SP at Circuit City that came with Metroid ZM for $79

And I got Zelda WW & Animal Crossing for $25

Doom 3 for $20

Circuit City had a line outside at 5:30 in the morning but most everyone was getting digital cameras, so it wasn't rushed or anything. I wouldn't brave Wal-mart during there specials, so I just went later in the day and price matched my stuff to other places.

Some of my stuff went on ebay, I would like to try Doom 3, but my PC has only integrated graphics. :oh_no:

I went to Best Buy @ 4:30 PM and got the 9600XT, almost no line and no wait (but the store was very crowded with people), and the $100 rebate too!! Great deal on a nice card, should pump things up a bit over my old GeForce 3 when I replace it.

EDIT: Oh I forgot, I picked up Max Payne 2 for XBox for $9.99. :) There were quite a few other 9.99 games for XB and PS2 as well.

Was at work all day. Didn't do any shopping until 6:00PM this evening.

Made a few stops at the gameshops and grabbed some goodies.

I might just have to get that GBA SP Pearl White w/ Metroid: Zero Missions bundle over at Circuit City.

Well, I worked the night shift last nite so I didn't get out of work till 6 this morning. That meant the only shopping I did today was to grab a few Hess trucks for my nephews and when I woke up this afternoon I ordered the last of my girlfriend's Christmas presents from the Zales website. I'm almost done, just my parents and that's pretty much it.

I did the black friday thing a few years back, and swore I'd never do it again. One of my friends had his last day working at best buy today, what a way to go. I should call and see if he's still alive lol.

Heh. You're in the same situation I'm in. I'm switching out my old vanilla GF3 today for the 9600xt. I'm really impressed with how far the GF3 took me though. It even runs world of warcraft extremely well, and I could get a playable framerate in doom3 as well.

On an unrelated note, someone mentioned the $10 Half life platinum collection. I just bought this for $30 2 days before this sale, so I'm a little peaved about that.

My GeForce 3 has been a great card too, though I haven't picked up Doom 3 yet. For older FPS games like Serious Sam and UT2K4, its been a great performer, although Painkiller chugged a little on it (one reason for my upgrade!). I bought it used from someone here in the forums a while ago, so it was really reasonable too. But for $100 its hard to pass up the 9600XT, should be a nice improvement over the old GF3 for a really cheap price. :)
