problems with the six slot

I installed a new battery on my motherboard (http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104574) earlier, and now slots 3-6 all have garbled graphics (slots 1 and 2 work fine). The boot up screen works fine, but the "winners don't use drugs" screen is also messed up, although the graphics aren't as garbled as slots 3-6.

The battery seems to work (the settings are saving), but it's certainly not worth sacrificing slots 3-6 just for that. I'll probably just remove it if no one can think of anything better. I've tried all the standard stuff (switching carts to different slots, etc.)

Anyone got any ideas? :help: :help: :help: :help:

try

try cleaning the slots with contact cleaner and a tooth brush

you're sure nothing on the board is shorting out/touching something after you put it back together?

Yeah I'm pretty sure the battery was touching the top board, and that was what was causing the problems. But when I opened the board, I also noticed that the solder joint had come loose. I'm not really sure which type of solder would be the best type to use though.

advice

I took my board into a professional to have it done along with a new monitor and pause switch (videoconnection.com).

I suggest you find a local video/pinball vendor/repair person or electronics repair person to do it for you.

Maybe someone on this forum?

Better to pay someone a few bucks than to blowup your board doing it yourself.
