It's seems there are always people wanting to know if their carts are a boot.

How about creating a data base with examples of legit and boot copies of each game title?

Is there a point to this list? I just randomly came across it, and I guess it could sort of warn about mass productions of bootlegs that you should be afraid of..
But as far as I can tell, you can in theory bootleg any cart, so any game that's somewhat valuable is a potential bootleg. And just listing every game that's been bootlegged won't come up with any surprises. Or am I wrong?

Either way, a better site dedicated to bootleg identification (including descriptions of things that might appear as a bootleg without being it) would be very welcome.
I don't think the linked gallery helps much.

Yeah, like I said, any valuable cart would be bootlegged. That was my point. :)
However, even old carts might easily have bootlegs, they just aren't produced any more.

Yeah, but when Art of Fighting 1 came out (an old game as an example), it was an expensive game for arcade operators at that time. So, back then, it could have been bootlegged. Now, it doesn't make any sense, but at one time, it made perfect sense...

I think the best thing to do is have photos of what original carts look like and then photos of boots -- people can then compare.

Lolz -^^

People make boots so that they can get big money
Bootleggers would make more money from an svc boot than a FF 2 boot

use the search funtion and check out the svc scandle No0B :D

Well when fatal Furry II came out, It was hundreds of times more desireable to arcade opps than SVC was. I am confident that Fatal Furies, Samshos and even some KOF 94's were booted.... They probably were later scrapped or made into other boots.

Street Fighter II is probably one of the cheapest boards available, It's also one of the most booted.

Realize that arcade ops pay thousands for new games, so a boot is always cheaper.

You kids do realize that Puzzle Bobble is easily the most bootlegged game, MVS style. And you can be sure those boots weren't made yesterday, but back in the time when it was the OMFG I HAVE TO GET MY PUZZLE ON!!!!@!@!11 day. Puzzle games, particularly in Japan, are huge money makers.

Most bootlegs are made when the game is first released. Why would anyone think that an AoF bootleg would be made now??? The price of making it is way higher than it could even be sold for.

PZ is also one of the cheaper boards to boot/epromswitch is it not?
