I am confident that the SS, SS2 and SSIV are originals (dusty carts, neat, all solid roms)

I would like confirmation of boot/fix/original status on the other 4 please.

p.s. I have stickers now over all eeprom windows!

The carts look legit to me..

I'd be very surprised to see any of THESE games Bootlegged anyway..

I think my Street Hoop has that blue resistor on the same chip too.........

These carts are so cheap to be found..I'd freaken be amazed if someone even had one bootlegged.
I've never seen any of these games Bootlegged....

I agree. These games are so common and cheap there is no point in making a boot of them.....no point really in attempting to repair one in all honesty. I paied, I think, $10 for my US FF2 MVS cart.

Well, they look original to me.

Anyway I don't see why the fact that those games are so common and cheap NOW has to do with them not being bootlegs. I mean, it doesn't make sense to produce bootlegs of those NOW, but back when they were released they sure costed a lot of money and was feasible to bootleg them.

I was right to be paranoid!

I posted on the forum that if the "not a bootleg" Shock Troopers cart Riggs sold me on Ebay was a boot, that I'd reverse my Paypal credit card payment.

Then I get a message from him that he's "not sure" it's legit.

Then I find that link on the forums to the rvf400 page, which shows the the cart I had payed for is in fact a boot!

He was quick and polite about refunding my money,
but I lost $3 due to changes in the exchange rate between the Dollar and Pound.

exterior cart pictures and list

Just checked the http://www.freewebs.com/rvf400/neogeocollection.htm site again and it has been altered, and seems to be in response to someones posts on the rumors forum.

If anybody wants a copy of the page before it was altered (showing pictures of the carts in question and listing if they are boots or not), I downloaded the page to my computer.

When's the last time anyone found a FF2 or AOF boot? That's my point. True, those games were expensive when new like any other arcade game. However, those particular games have never been bootlegged in great numbers like other games. They have never been rare or hard to find when compared to other MVS carts.

True I totally agree... :)

Have you ever seen any of these 4 games bootlegged..?
I never have, and I'd be interested and very surprised if I did..

In all my time being here and buying and selling MVS carts I've never seen any of those carts bootlegged,It'll be a first for me..
But possible..

I've owned one of the only two Ghost Pilot boots ever to have surfaced, here.(as I can remember)

Now,Street Hoop I think on one occasion I saw a boot being ask if it was legit..(here)

.................................................................................
I'm going to make a list of all verified to have been seen ..had/owned games that were bootlegged..(for future reference for members here)
I've been wanting to do that..For my own reference.

the point

the point in this case, is that some people suspect this particular seller maybe someone else (who is not to be trusted).

regardless of how rare a boot might be, or if you paid a small amount for a game, it should be as advertised, and you should get a partial or full refund if it's represented to be original and it turns out to be a boot

I think it's prudent for him to be careful all considered

to be fair i did offer you a refund at first but you said you still wanted it.
then you changed your mind and i refunded you.
and i am still not 100% sure its a boot yet since i can't have it verified

fairness

What I said was:

"He was quick and polite about refunding my money"

I don't think the cart needs to be openned.

You say you got it from rvf400.

rvf400 said on his site that the Shocktroopers cart is a boot.

I see no motivation for anyone to say their cart is a boot if it is not.

The cart has a unique home made label, it's the same cart, it's a boot, and should sell for less than an original.

As the carts came from rvf400, and we all know he was kicked off neo-geo.com for selling boots/ripping people off, I don't think it unfair to question the carts legitimacy/functionality that came from rvf400.

You'll proably be able to sell the Shocktroops boot on Ebay if you re-list it, or offer it to the other people who bid on it already. Just let them know it's a boot, and nobody will be upset afterwards.

Good Luck!

The RVF guy was guilty of 2 things:
1) selling boots
2) scamming members.

I wanted to confirm these were not boots, and I wanted to show whether or not Riggs sells boots - so from my POV he doesn't sell boots.
That's all.

Plus a couple of the carts have eeproms and odd wiring, so I thought it was worth checking.

well i was never sure it was his since those labels are probably from a website somewhere thus anyone could of printed them.

i thought you were complaining to me!, i don't know everybody else is bitchin at me so i thought you were jumping on the bandwagon.

i won't relist since i like it anyway :multi_co:

Those look Like Yao Jobs to me....... RVF did a good amount of biz with yao..... But so haven't many members here....

Just because someone sells old, legit carts, doesn't mean that they don't sell boots....

This thread was just really for my benefit to check out the carts, and to let people know what Riggs was selling.

My reasons for asking:
FF2 - eeproms
AOF - odd resistors/components
Hoops - blue wired component
World Heroes - eeproms.

It has been confirmed that this particular bunch of carts are all legit.

?

Yao jobs? As in Jian ming yao / yaton6262?
What do you mean by Yao jobs? Boots?
Please be more specific, as in why these look like something relateded only to a Yao.
Also which games were "Yao"d.

Thanks!
