Killer Instinct machine question (CPS2)

Hey guys,

I'm going to go look at a KI2 machine. I asked this guy what six button set ups they had, and this is all. He's going to let me check it out and maybe take it home if I give a good price. Would I be able to plug in a CPS2 and go right away, or would I have to convert something? I don't know ANYTHING about this kick harness crap. I assume that KI would be JAMMA, and everything should work. Right?

A Midway kick harness is different from a CPS-2 kick harness. The only thing you will get working is the top 3 button. You will need a separate kick harness for CPS-2 games. And yes, while both KI/KI2 and CPS-2 are JAMMA, kick harness varies with different makers. It sucks that way, but that's that's the way it is.

I would try and make an adapter before messing with the wiring.

I'm certain I could whip up some adapters for you that would let you use the 6 buttons on both boards. In fact I have some extra CPS2 kick harnesses in the basement.

Hey, Kevin. Let me know what you could do. I first have to check the machine out to see if it's even worth half a damn. Thanks.

I'd just put the wire harness for the kick buttons on the cab on a molex connector. Then I'd put a molex connector of the opposite sex on the wire harness for the extra connector for each board.

That's why they pay me the big bucks.
