You still get the idea though... also the review of spiderman 2 looks pretty lame.

ww.Gamespot.com should have lots of pics for both systems.

More ridge racer pics...

This system is gona pimp slap the DS in the "pretty pixel" department !!!

http://media.psp.ign.com/media/682/682967/imgs_1.html

The damn think looks like a Dreamcast to a PS2 in terms of graphics... IGN also got some Jap ads running, the 1st thing I was thinking when watching them was how sweet the screen was... you can actually see the details... and thats only the video !

It looks safe to say that someone in the industry is gona get owned...

So, are you trying to show us that the PSP is more powerful than the DS? We knew that already.

Not just that... but MORE importantly that the quality of gamming experence would be different as well... so it gives developers alot of room to play around with... only advantage I see the DS having is the longer battery life along with a cart formate (no moving parts)... other wise the PSP is gona put down some serious pimp slapping on that kiddy Nintendo thingy.

dude, next time you want to do side by side comparisons, bring in better evidence.

If Chimpmeister posts findings that hurt your agument against the DS, you're in dire straights...

Look for your self... there are tons of video over at IGN... and none make the DS look like anything special... you do the comparisons.

We already know that the DS cant really compare with the psp's graphics.....we dont need side by side comparisons, much less another thread about it. If graphics alone is all you care about in a game then thats great...go buy a PSP.

Obviously no one looks for a decent battery life or durability when it comes to their handhelds.

As soon as the PSP comes out with a game I'm interested in I'll get one.

As soon as the DS comes out with a game I'm interested in I'll get one. (That game may be Sprung :( )

I thought most of the people here were anti grafx whores?

and, Mario 64 looks as good, if not better than the N64 game, really pretty stuff.

Graphics are one thing, and playability quite another. If I have to re-charge every 2 hours with the PSP, that will hurt my playability.

Graphics may be the milk that hooks you, but the cow is the gameplay. Rehashed games don't come off too well in the gameplay dept.

I dunno about the PSP. I was psyched about it at first, but that short battery life really is the clincher. Of all the launch games, only Metal Gear Acid look vaguely interesting, and Rez creator's Lumines looks very good.

DS may not have it in the games dept. (yet), and we'll have to see if the mic and touch screen proves to be more than just a gimmick, but Feel the Magic: XY:XX, Wario Ware, Jam with the Band, and Sprung have sold me.

Well I have heard rumours the psp is more then double the price to make then they are selling it at, that is over a 100% loss on every unit, good hardware comes at a cost. And nintendo is making money on hardware... They will be around regardless if they sell more or even less units then the psp overall. And u can expect the ds to come down in price right off the hop when the psp is released over here, and u can also expect the price of the psp to stay at the price that it is at for a while, not good for share holders. It is a excellent piece of hardware however nintendo will probably have a new revision of the ds when the psp launches stateside... better to reinvent the wheel and retain marketshare then to let it slip with old hardware... the fight isnt over yet.

I don't even think the fight even started yet, to be honest... simply because no one here has even used or seen the PSP... the next 3weeks things will start.

Just like the elections that has now ended, you will never really know what could happen next.

Not really.
Mario 64 DS does have better performance than the N64 version. The only lacking of the DS version is the texture filtering and one or two effects that didn't seem to transition over the same. I wouldn't clear cut on either way, the N64 version has smoother looking textures due to filtering and a few nicer effects in some areas. While at the same time the DS version tends to have more detailed models, smoother framerates, and nicer looking effects in some areas. I'm willing to bet that with a little time DS games will find ways to improve on the texture filtering. The faces of Yoshi and Mario on the DS version intro are quite smooth looking, as is the Bowser model used; Certainly an improvement on the N64 version. If they could apply that same quality to the whole game it would easily look better.

But then again, I don't know why I bother. It's clear from your comment that you probably only spent about five minutes playing the game, if even that much. I wouldn't be suprised if you are basing you statement solely on still screens and a few shitty videos you found online.

In that case, it is comparable to a PlayStation/Saturn running Mario64. Why? Because this 2 systems have more polygon moving power than the Nintendo64, but lack of texture filtering, anti-aliasing, etc.

Overall, the game doesn't look a lot different from the Nintendo64 release (diregarding the lack of texture filtering and anti-aliasing), and seriously I have not played the original Mario64 to compare such slight differences.

And about the graphics, Mario 64 is only a direct port. Technically, the DS proc is more powerful that the N64 one, like the iQue one, or even better.

We can expect some graphics better than N64 in some ways, in upcoming releases.

It isn't a direct port at all, most if not all of the geometry has been redone, and the textures as well -

Regarding power, if you have any actual proof that the DS is actually more powerful than the Nintendo64, I would love to see it. I haven't been able to get any detailed technical spec sheet for the DS, so I cannot compare.

But considering only main processors... I don't know if an ARM9 can beat a MIPS R4300i. Anyway, there are many other things to consider (RCP, ARM7, bandwidths, etc).
