I love MGS3 so far, but it is incredibly hard since the radar is gone. I find myself getting caught by foes almost everytime i have to try and sneek past them.

Is anyone else finding it to be this hard?

I have to say that I'm problably going to play MGS3 through again just to see if I can actually not be detected.

PS: I HAVE NOT BEAT THE GAME YET, PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING FOR ME.

Mary Poppins leaves at the end. I think. I've never seen that movie.

Anyway, all you need to do is make sure your camo index is high. Guards will not see you even up close if you have around 80-90%. Spend a lot of time crawling.

everyone, i'm trying to put the past behind me. i'm just using VanillaThunder's post as an example. please leave it alone.

a lot of shit has happened recently in my life, and i don't need to be teased right now.

i don't wanna sound like i'm trying to call anyone out or anything, cuz i'm not, i'm just saying that i'm not in the mood for teasing, or reminders of past things that i've said, or done.

btw, i'm serious, anyone have any good stories about how they evaded foes in MGS3?

Bry,

Posts like this will only draw more ire. This sounds like the setup for the last time you had a meltdown.

Chill man. it's a messageboard.

If posts will make you nuts because of other things in your life, unplug for a while.

to tell you the truth, i'm in the middle of a meltdown right now.

i'll try to roll with the punches, but i'm generally in a pretty bad mood these days.

really now, how about MGS3?

I don't believe I've ever seen you do anything in the past that was worth making fun of. And besides, I gave you some pretty decent advice about MGS3. I've noticed that a lot of people over estimate the guard's intelligence in MGS3. They are still basically as dumb as ever, only they can see further away and are a little more tenacious. Just don't run around everywhere like in MGS/MGS2 and you should be fine. You have to take it slow.

I like the game without radar. I found myself turning the radar off in the previous games because you can basically run threw the entire game without being seen with it on.

No radar is amazing. There's nothing MORE satisfying than slitting a man's throat after you've been stalking him in the bushes for 2-3 minutes.

sort of off-topic, but buro's post reminded me:

after months and months of playing Goldeneye with my friends, we started to turn the radar off. After the initial "eh it's different i don't like it" reaction wore off, i saw how awesome it was. You had to really know the levels instead of just chasing a dot on the screen, and the game became much slower, tenser, and more involving.

Good times.

Well, you can use the sonar and the motion detector, but it is not really the same.

I personally prefer the radar, but come on, it is too sophisticated for 1964.

On a side note: (MINI SPOLIER AHEAD), don't you think the intro after the introduction stage is too similar to the James Bond movie ones? Even the music is the same, just change "Snake Eater" for "Goldeneye" and then only Tina Turner is missing.

This game took on a whole new dimension of fun by making you work your way through everything. Besides, once you get the thermal goggles, you don't need much else to help you spot shit.

True, but then again just how is it that Snake has to go up against Russian Mi-24 HIND variant series of helicopter gunships when that particular helo didn't debut in the world until Russia's invasion in Afghanistan in the late 70's??? Where the heck did whole units of Hover Craft get feilded in 1964? Still though MGS 3 is easily the best in the series, but I still think the true sequel was the best up until this point.

That, plus the fact that the inventor of both the Soliton radar and the Codec in the series (Mei Ling) hadn't been born yet.

As for the intro, it was intentional.

it is really satisfying to actually successfully sneak up on an enemy and either take him hostage or kill him.

i've done it about 4 times without error in MGS3 so far...i've been caught many more times than that. =P

awesome game
