Greetings everyone,
Well, in this fast paced neo world I just can't keep up with the decisions of having to either purchase AES or MVS versions of games, so I suppose I'll finally let go of my AES and go strictly MVS. To dedicate myself to such a big change, I must first sell my pride and joy. I am offering my Riding Hero prototype AES. Serious offers only please. I guess I might have to change my avatar after such a sale
On to the specs:
"Cart Sticker"
Riding Hero was one of the few carts that could use the link hardware. The final meg count for this game is 46 megs. This prototype shows the meg count to be 42 megs. The prototype is currently 50 megs without the communication hardware. The art used for this game is similar to the final for both the US and Japanese release, only it shows a different meg count and revised background.
"Program Board"
This prototype uses SNK's "AES-AEG Prog-COM" board. The board used in the final release of this game was the "NEO-AEG Prog-Hero". The board that this prototype uses is a general board which should have worked as-is for all games. This game however required more logic and the use of several wires in order to run properly. These changes to the standard communication board would have would have forced SNK to make a new board with the updated logic - The "Prog-Hero" board followed 3 months later.
"Graphic Board"
The graphics board uses SNK's "AES-AEG CHA 32" board. This board was used in the final release. The only difference was the use of a revised M1.
"In-Game differences"
This game itself has numerous differences from the released version.
1. The options on the start game screen are in a different order.
2. Game-saves load up automatically without asking you first, and a single game save will take up a whole official neo memory card.
3. 2 small visual glitches in the game listed below.
(on one course there is a car that has visual defects, and when you first meet diamond dave he has the sprite of a motorcycle stuck on his head)
4. Different game code (4444). Also labeled as "Riders Hero" in the bios settings.
5. The game will only play in English, no matter what type of region console you are playing on.
6. The Only other difference I noticed is character name-changes. The girl at the bike shop is named Sujie instead of susie, and when you are in the 8 hour race you are partnered with TakaNaka instead of Diamond dave.
