A bit abnormal to go for score on fighters I know, but I remember J doing one of these on 97 in which I thoroughly suck. KOF 98 I am a bit better at but am sure my score will be overcome by one of you rather quickly :)

298300

That was on Level 8, 1 credit, with a team consisting of Goro, Vice, and Takuma :)

So what are yours?

ah a game I own this time

The more competition the better :) . Although my skills are going to have to improve significantly I can tell. Hopefully will get a few more games in this evening after class.

409500

Heavy D!/ Iori/ Ryo

Never actually played for score before... what yields a higher score?

I figured that the speed of the match and remaining health would, but does anything else?

Time/Straight/Perfect add score.

I believe each hit has a certain value as well.

Figure perfects and straight victories as much as possible, so then:

Perfect x 20 = 200,000 (18 team members, Shingo, Omega Rugal)
Straight x 8 = 160,000 (see above)

That already nets you 360,000. Time bonuses, life bonuses and general scoring do the rest for you. Try big combos and landing DM/SDM's as much as possible for both points and larger time bonuses as DM's do help to shorten rounds with the damage they do.

edit: I am assuming '98 credits you for the bonuses vs. O.Rugal as they do for the Orochis in '97. I never payed enough attention to notice personally.

Ah... I pretty much just kept everyone at bay with short, quick combos with Heavy while trying to finish them off as fast as possible.

my crappy highscore !

Well i played one time yesterday, long time i havent play the 98, lost a lots of feeling and my touch probably !

Anyways with takuma, benimaru and athena i got 342700 points, pretty crappy i guess, i just got two perfect and some straight (missed the one with rugal, i havent put athena in first) !

i think this week end i can get a better score, around 400000 i think !

i will try if i m not busy !

Lucky is such a beast in this game, yet I never play him. I think I'll give him a go later on this evening. Any tips?

- Oh, and I got that score without using the D button or the CD attack ;)

Tips? His sC and cC are amazing. His d,d+A/B/C move is good to keep opponents away, and his hcb+A/C move can hit low, and since the ball bounces upwards, it drives most opponents mad. And, for some reason, I feel like his standard C grab has a lot of priority, and it is a very good move as well, mainly because it throws the enemy far away.

Lucky is quite good if you can look past the crap chara design... a basketball player in a fighter, haha... ah well.

Here's a simple all-purpose DM combo:

(optional: jD -> ) sC -> qcb+B -> qcf x2+A (3/4 hits, 1 stock)

IMO, his best specials are the Cyclone Break (qcb+K), the Death Bound and Death Dunk (qcf+P and qcb+P) and of course the Death Heel (dp+K). His s/cD has good reach and quite high prio, combine that with mixed qcb/qcf+P basketball attacks and high-low games (for ex. cD followed by a quick qcb+K) and you're set.

The Death Shoot (d,d+P or K) is nice as well but a bit tricky to use effectively because it takes a while to come out and leaves you wide open if you miss, I only use it against bigger/slower charas.

Ah, and don't teleport too often, it's nice for a bit of hit-and-run but it's also very predictable and can be punished easily. Never use the teleport when playing against good grappler players.

I've increased my score a bit so my new personal high is 310100. I can accomplish straights almost every time usually missing one or two. And can toss in a couple of perfects especially if I miss the straight. I'm thinking I should be more aggressive to get better time bonuses.

You should also see the opponent's patterns. Chizuru for example, is extremely predictable. If she has more HP than you do, she will stay in her place, and will perform a vertical jumping CD attack if you jump against her, ALWAYS, even if you performed a small jump. You have to abuse of this kind of things.

Also, Straight+Perfect against Shingo will help your score a lot.

Try that on Survivor mode.

Level 8 Team Play perfects and straights are a lot diferent.

Some are still performable, but the CPU is much more cheesy.

Anyway, 408300pts

Ralf, Takuma, Vice

All Straights, some perfects.

Easiest team to perfect = China Team.
