just wondering...

i bought a waku waku 7 MVS cart from him, and haven't received any kind of response in well over a week.

he's in tampa, so priority mail shouldn't take 2 weeks...

I think there's a good bet that you're dealing with the infamous Japhei, who, like Satan, goes by many names. If you paid with PayPal, I wouldn't wait too long before filing a claim. There's also a good bet that, if you do receive a cart, it will be a boot. I have no proof that boomsday is Casey/Japhei, but I wouldn't be surprised.

got an email from him and paypal today:

I was unaware that I had not shipped your game right away, and have been very busy tasking care of my mother, who had a stroke recently. She had experienced too much stress during the hurricane season.
If you don't want the game I sent- which I found and shipped before I realized you had filed a complaint-( and what is all that stuff about alias's? and bootlegs) then please refuse the delivery, and I will refund your payment when the game comes back.
I am truly sorry about the misunderstanding. I don't have or sell alot of games, and I have just gotten rid of my machines, to move to a smaller place with my mother, since she can no longer work, or care for herself, or help much with the bills.-Cody Myers

the tracking no. submitted to paypal doesn't come up on the USPS site either...

more talk of sick mothers as well...hate to sound like a jaded bastard, but...

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Japhei's real name Cassey McMahon?

I bougth a MVS copy of "Real Bout Fatal Fury 2" with mini-marquee from him last Summer (right before hurricane Charley hit Florida), and he was very professional with the transaction. He was good with e-mail replies, was fast with the game delivery, and the game and mini-marquee are 100% SNK original. Also the guy's real name is Cody Myers. So unless this is Japhei or his brother, this is news to me.

Also, don't be surprise if the USPS web-site does not show information about the status of the package, as this is very normal with them. The USPS is supposed to scan packages every single day, but once in a while some packages are not scanned. I know this from personal experience.

Finally before someone decides to flame me, please notice that I am not defending the seller in any way, shape, or form, as I am just merely stating the good business experience that I had with him.

Sorry that your experience with him did not go as smooth as you planned, dethink, and I hope that you either get your game or your money back asap.

well, got the cart today, the label wasn't in any kind of museum quality shape, so i had no qualms about making a small crease in it...

no SNK anywhere on the boards, and a windowed EPROM on the bottom board, in the bottom left-most position (if the label/spine side is facing away from you)...the label on the cart looks authentic, with 1 serial intact, but over the screwhole nearest the position of the EPROM, there's a label that reads "HK" and has several chinese characters on it, similar in size to some of the small numbered labels on legit japanese carts i've gotten from places like mdgamesales.

i know waku waku is a sunsoft title, so that may have something to do with the absence of any SNK branding on the boards, but somehow i doubt it.

casey mcmahon? cody myers? CM? both located in FL? i'm pretty sure i've been had.

what should i do? if i send the cart back, i'm pretty sure i'll never see a dime of my money, so i'm just contemplating cleaning it up (cuz it's filthy), and learning a $70 lesson...

Sounds like a bootleg.

Last time I got one I threw it in the trash. You will be lucky to get anywhere with trying to get a refund.

Ouch! So in the end it seems that this person is related to Japhei somehow. I am sorry to hear about that. Could you put a complain with PayPal stating that you got an item that was not original and broken?

Charles

p.s.- Although Waku Waku 7 was developed by Sunsoft, the cart was still manufactured by SNK. Therefore, SNK should show up on the PCBs and on some chips. Could you post some pictures of the PCBs?

Just a note of observation:

People don't typically write out our first and second name... unless they are really thinking about it.

yeah, i'll get some pics as soon as i can find a decent camera besides my cell phone - my girlfriend lost the new tiny sony T1 she had to have... :annoyed:

it doesn't say SNK anywhere on the boards or chips, and while there are no wires, things like the lettering in empty slots where chips would sit on a real SNK board are a completely different font. i'm no expert but just my quick look at things would lead me to believe that this thing is far from legit, based on what i've seen on the insides of the other dozen games i own.

he submitted tracking data to paypal to prove that it was sent, and their investigation will resume on the 5th, which is when i assume they'll ask if i've received it, etc.
