I was playing against the AOF team in KOF '94, and I got Robert dizzy. When I went over to hit him, Ryo (who was right in front of my character and Robert) jumped out from the side lines and hit me! Is there a way I can do that myself, or this some kind of wierd glitch? I'm playing the Jap AES home cart version.

KOF included a feature where when you are dizzy or being thrown, your team will help you.

I believe there is a way to do this, but I forget the exact method.

There are some good faqs at gamefaqs.com that explain it.

When you're dizzy, hit A+B+C. It also works in KOF '95. I think they took it out from '96 on.

Team Assist, as it's more commonly called is present until '98.

I think there's also a bunch of conditions that must be met in order to have a chance of getting a Team Assist:

1) Your team members must be onscreen
2) At least one of them must not have been defeated yet(?)

can't recall what, if any, other conditions there are

I thought I remembered another requirement being "your character must be in the general vicinity of the assisting character" -- e.g., if you're on the opposite end of the stage, the assist won't happen (iirc). I do remember clearly the SNKUSAglish name for these assists from the inlay cards: "Bop the bully!"

Another condition started from 96 on was how the teammate relates to the fighter
Yeah, I forgot about that. The whole smiley face/neutral face/unhappy face thing. That was in '96, too? It's been a while, but I thought I remembered that in '97. You push start (I think) on the character select screen and you see little faces for everyone showing how they'll relate to the character you picked. Unhappy face people won't help each other. How could I forget about that?

The smilie thing was not in 96 but it was a trial and error thing that I believe gave the concept for the smilie thing in 97 and 98
