So I'm at work today just chillin' and I went to the back room to look for something. On of the walls we have a couple of racks where we store pre-order swag and empty display boxes. I'm shuffling through stacks of demos not given away like Sly 2, Galactic Wrestling, yadda yadda when I stumble on a small rubber banded stack of......KILLZONE demos! :)

Anyway, just thought I'd relay this to you Merc-man so you can mosey on down to your local Gamestop and snag yourself a demo. They'll probably haggle you into reserving it but I imagine you're gonna get the game anyway so not like you'll lose any money if you do plus you'll have the demo to tide you over till the actual game comes out.

My boys at EB gave me one, I believe it was their only copy. I'm about to pop it into the PSTwo and see how it plays. I'll post some impressions shortly.

The demo has two playable levels. I've only run through the first one so far: Helghast Assault. The first thing I noticed were the graphics, they are amazing and silky smooth. I didn't know the PS2 could pull off such pretty visuals. It has a very visceral feel, like the developers were trying to recreate the grittiness of a World War I trench battle.

You spend the level learning the controls, shooting at Helghast, manning gun emplacements, running from tanks, and learning how to throw grenades. It's a lot of fun. You start with a pistol and an assault rifle. I noticed the assault rifle has a major recoil issue, if you try to squeeze off more than a few shots at a time you won't hit anything. The weapons look really cool.

Which brings me to the technical design. The tech in this game looks awesome. The uniforms, weapons, tanks and scenery have a really cool "near-future" look to them. The tanks look and sound imposing, as a tank should.. I can only hope they allow us to comandeer one, if even for one mission. The Helghast voices are also really cool.

I was interested in this game before, but it has now become a "must buy" title on my list. We should be getting it in November, complete with online play.

Umm.... I sold my 4th Playstation 2 several weeks back in disgust over a lot of things, and I needed the money at the time. With the newer slimer PStwo design I might just buy another one to of course play this and MGS III {even though I said I'd wait till it was a "Greatest Hits" edition, but I can't}. The game sure looked amazing back when I got the 14 minute video of it in PSM Magazine.
