So it's apparent that 2001 is considered a rare find since there are limited to little copies of this game.

Just curious as to an idea of how many copies were actually made and just to how many neo members on this forum own a copy.

Anyway, owners post here and tell me if it was an obstacle (or easy) of a time to find this game.

Me personally I had a little bit of trouble finding it at first, but then I ordered mine from Ckchan.

So count that as one owner.

(NOTE: This is for kof 2001 MVS owners.)

Are you talking mvs or home cart?

All KOF's have enough copies produced of them that no year can really be considered rare, especially MVS

I agree. Maybe more people bought up 2001 mvs FASTER than some of the earlier or later years but honestly, the "RARE" thing marketers use is bullshit. All I had to do was ask a couple of times and a seller had already pointed me in the right direction towards a shiney 2001 cart.

Maybe it was hard for some other people? (yes? no?)

I guess we will know in later post to come.

I still see it around here and there, but sometimes even the loose carts are still $100+... For gameplay, it's my second favorite after '02. A really fun game. Right now, all I have is the PS2 port which is great as well, but... you know.

Yeah man, for awhile I had the dreamcast version of it then the music on it suddently stopped working. All I got was sound effects. So that was the final straw that I said to myself, "Okay, I'm getting an MVS board"

Out of curiousity were you a previous 2001 mvs owner?

The only thing I miss about the 2001 dreamcast port was puzzle mode. But thats okay I can still do without. :P

Nah, if I had that game on MVS, I'd never sell it. I love that game... I'll probably get it at some point.

Bought the homecart on release/pre-order, didn't know that it's so "rare" these days.

It's my 2nd fave KoF after 98, and probably the deepest KoF ever. Excellent game that suffers from debatable artwork and soundtrack quality.

Hmm, the music I don't have a problem with. The more you think about it and compare with the other King of Fighters, however, you have to admit that the backgrounds are lack luster. Then again, this was the year SNK was getting back on their feet, so I'll let them slide. The gameplay is awesome, but I could do without the strikers. Oh well. As far as this being a rare find on MVS, I have to disagree. It doesn't pop up as much as others do, but the only reason it took me a while to get this game was that I try to buy things for as little as I possibly can. I lost it on ebay a few times in the $80 range, but then I finally got it for $70 shipped. So really it just depends how badly you want it, and how much you're willing to pay for it. I got the loose cart since I am a student and need my money for other things (alcohol, courting my girlfriend).
