Question on MVS boards / controller connections

I was wondering if you can use the normal control panel output on an MVS board AND a controller hooked directly into the ports at the same time? One mod I'm thinking of putting on my cab are joystick expansion ports where you can just plug in a typical AES joystick or pad controller from a port added to the front of the machine by the memory card slot and headphone slots.

Seems like an odd mod, but would come in handy in some cases.

yeah the ports on the boards are made for the AES controllers so it shouldnt be that big of a deal for you to create your modded cab.

the guy i bought my cab from gave me his neogeo to psx adapter cuz he used to plug in his PSX pad to play on the cab.
