I'm just curious about who will be picking this game up - I'll be grabbing my copy a little bit later today. I've actually never played the N64 game, but this one is getting really rave reviews (9.2 from gamespot, and say what you will, they don't give those numbers away), and I've got a pretty big soft spot for the Mariomeister.

Also - to the guys that already have this game ...

What do you think about it?

I realize that it's going to be maybe geared toward a younger audience, but I don't really care about all that. Some of Nintendo's best games are that way. Anyway, just let me know what you guys think.

I plan to buy it sooner or later, but not on its release date or anything. But the game has been getting rave reviews, at least from everyone besides Game Informer. I think they gave it a 6.

I'll be picking this up eventually. Looks like a lot of pure, simple fun.

I never got to play Paper Mario, but if its as good as the GODLY Super Mario RPG and at least as fun as Mario and Lugi for gba then i'll glady shell out the cash.

the first was a classic. it's like having characters and monsters from all the different Mario titles in a (very) simple (yet fun) RPG game. this game captures the Mario World atmosphere. unlike Mario RPG, you will like Paper Mario whether you like RPG or not, as long as you love mario games (especially Mario Bros. 3).

I don't know what will this new game focus on this time. but it's a Mario game, and it's a RPG, so I know I will like it.

The whole series is fun.

I remember the 1st one although i never played it myself. But i must admit the commercials and reviews have got my curiousity peaked. I think that i'm also craving a sidescrolling platformer of old. In any case im lookn' forward to playing it.

My wife will be getting this soon (probably this weekend) as she has been looking forward to it since I told her it was comming out (early this year). She loved the N64 version and this one looks amazing so I am hoping that it is good. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga was amazing so I can only hope this is as good.

looks very promising and I will be playing this more, but SSVS MVS just arrived so I doubt anything else will get play around here for a while...

i did play the intro level and had a blast, lots of neat cameos from all of the other mario games.

I'll rent this. I can't really buy games due to my budget ($5.15/hr). I may get it if I can work at Fry's, Gamestop, or EB Games hopefully sometime this year. I just beat Mario RPG and I had so much fun with it (even beat Culex!)

Yea, I really want to pick this game up. I really loved Mario & Luigi SS. That game was just plain fund. Sad thing is my funds are a bit low after picking up SVC and paying off my pre-order for DOA Ultimate. So many good games so little money.

Isn't that the truth. I can name numerous games off the top of my head that i'd love to play but just can't shell out the cash to pick up. Such is the struggle of the poor gamer in college.

I bought this today. Another excellent game from Nintendo. I finished the first one years ago when it came out and loved that one too, it just keeps getting better! :drool_2:

Indeed, $50 a pop is hurting the bank account and with next semester coming up siooner then one would think and car payments and the numerous amount of BS, there's really nothing left. I've been having to seel some games just to get the money to get the necessary games I want. Indeed, the life of a poor college student.

I really want to pick this up as well. I managed to play a little bit of Mario and Luigi:SSS and it was really fun. So if this is anything like that then i've got to pick this up.
Geez, I haven't even gotten paid yet and money is already spent...
And on top of that i've still got several games around that I haven't even opened yet! I need a vacation...

Just picked it up this afternoon and started playing. Very cutesy so far, but a really fun game at its core. There's a ton of talking, but you really get to know and like the characters as you go. Just like any RPG, talk to everyone and search everything, you will be rewarded. Hell I'm going to go play some more right now.

Just thought I'd follow up after buying the game.

It rocks. Go get it. I never played the first one, so it seems all new to me and probably more original than it otherwise might, but I can't imagine too many people not liking this game. Midway Arcade Treasures 2 was pretty weak, IMO, but Paper Mario was/really impressive. Paper Mario is very polished, inventive, and very addictive.

I'm having a great time with the game. I'm sorry to say that I've gotten a bit stuck here and there, but just because I wasn't sure where things were. Overall, I can't help but get the feeling of "Earthbound" from this. Maybe it's the humor, or the music. I can't put my finger on it, but when I was in the Punie's tree, I had this feeling that I was helping the Tendas out with Ness.

Very good game. Really really strange, but that's why I like it. If you like Earthbound for SNES, I say try this one out. Oh, and I've never played the N64 version of this. I hear that this is much better, but I can only take the word of others on that for now.

Good point - the sense of humor in this game is excellent. Great stuff, regardless of how old you are.

Picked this up on Saturday and it's great. I like the battle system in this. Having a huge crowd and having them throw items to you and/or your enemy is nice. Can't wait to play this more when I get home.
