Abusing edit function? (deleting your own post history)

This guy NEOryu showed up trolling in my NFL thread telling us not to talk about that stuff here, so I checked his post history to see if I should just add him to my ignore list. Turns out the guy turned almost all of his posts into nothing but periods. So I'm trying to see if this guy is a retarded troll, and it turns out he's ruined his own post history. So how am I supposed to know what to make of this guy showing up like that in my thread? And more importantly, if everyone abused the edit function like this, the forums would be ruined.

It's abusing the edit function to use it to change old archived threads for no reason, isn't it? Unless there's a reason, but then I'm saying what reason could there be? It's not the same to edit a current post. We're talking about long dead post being deleted. I mean what if you just went back and made all your posts look like you were a hardcore liberal? That's just an attempt to decieve anyone who looks back... It's not cool.

Sure anyone has the right to say and do whatever the heck they want to on this site. You can go post horse porn in the war room. It's just... Should it be bannable? They are two different issues.

Yeah, that would be silly - but I don't really see how it's hurting anyone.

The one case that I think would be a problem would be if a sales thread was deleted that maybe contained evidence about a sale that had gone awry. In that case, I'd say it's bannable. Otherwise, I'd probably just think it was odd and wouldn't really care. That's just my opinion though.

When someone asks a question that's been answered a million times, we say "use the search function!" ... The search function only works if we assume that people aren't changing all their old posts around. If people are going to be doing this, it could mess up old threads. I don't know if it did in this case, but at least it'd be nice in principle to ban people for doing this. Because it's not just a case of a guy going back and deleting one post that was bothering him. It's every post the guy made except like... 10.

Is there a reason to this shit? Personally, I use the search function all the time to avoid asking redundant things or to find a particular thread I liked. Now I find out that I'm guaranteed to be missing some results where people said good stuff... And why? I don't get it.

BTW, I picked this thread at random and it's not the best example, but it has a guest galfordo begging for teh conversions! lol

I made this thread to ask about you because I couldn't figure out what was going on and I couldn't figure out if I should be mad at you or not. I don't see anyone, even you, explaining why you delete your history... How the fuck do you expect me to get to know who you are if I can't even see what you posted? All I see is your trolling. Getting people to come to your threads and talk about things, and then proceeding to bury the threads by castrating the posts and titles, it's a real problem. People came to your threads to contribute and now no one will ever be able to find them again. I wanted to know what the deal was with that, and you've said nothing.
