Okay I got 6 sanwa buttons today, now they are to big, as I thought they'd be.
So my next step is to get a dremel as was mentioned in a older topic.

I actually reccomend you do it this way, as I think theres no other.
I think the sanwa buttons made for the DC stick arent made by sanwa at all, they mimic the sanwa buttons but also are custom made to fit. This is why I doubt there is going to be replacements in existence, other then naturally on the sticks themselves. Some Alps company did those buttons.

The way around this is to widen each whole, then put your real sanwa's in.
My only concern is that I will use the dremel and fuck it up by going to far to the sides.

I have 2 Official Sega DC arcade sticks in peices - I robbed the circuit boards for part of my Naomi VMU hookup. Needless to say I now have 12 buttons and 2 sticks going spare also 2 spare casings - I was going to use these to make a couple of custom sticks but if your interested in the parts then drop me PM, should point out tho im in the UK so shipping would be a little more pricey

Well, I got the tool, stepped into the garage in my cameo michael jackson gear.

I made the holes bigger, mounted the buttons. I slowly made each bigger till the buttons snugly fit in. I wanted them hard in, so they got that treatment.
They work and look great. The ball is now blue to match. The stick looks like it was factory made that way. I am very impressed with this and I credit amano jacu's previous posts about this.

I wired up the buttons by cutting the old contacts via scissors. I grounded each button with a common black wiring so everything is self explained.

Lot of fun to do.

Costs:

34$ for the dremel from walmart, 19$ for 6 blue sanwa 30mm buttons.

Its more then buying another joystick entirely, but with this tool I made it so I can easily swap buttons if these ever go bad. It adds a "invincible" aspect to this stick.

Sanwa buttons are better built then the alps ones, so make sure you prepare for them to go bad if you get yourself one of these sticks.

I'm just wondering, what naomi games can use this VMU hook-up? And more importantly, have you checked if the controller itself works in those games, that is, it controls the action?

I used a DC controller extension cable to create a DC->Naomi adapter, so if I wanted to use the VMU (or the controller controls themselves) I could just hook a DC controller through it. When using it with a DC controller with a VMU inserted, the VMU would "react", but then go to a blank screen. I guess that was because my games are not VMU compatible.

With those pcb-less DC sticks you could very easily construct customs sticks to be used in the Neo Geo or any supergun.

@LWK: I'm glad you made it work. Anyway I am more than happy with the default buttons in my DC sticks.

And have you checked if the game can be controlled using DC pad? Anyway if you used the pcb insided the DC stick I guess you can't try it. Oh well, don't worry.

If I get something in the near future to take a pic of it, I'll make a thread showing pics of the mod. You gotta be real careful with that dremel when mounting these bastards cause you can go to high up and scrape your base. I did this, but its not excessive, only a little bit.
