OK, has anyone else noticed that there are two different types of 2-slots?? I got a 2-slot from Kurt (2point0) and a cover from Robert Wallace and there is a significant size difference.

I'm thinking that there was a model that never came with a cover that is wider and the smaller, covered model.

Looking at the PCB guide at HardMVS it seems this is the case too, although no mention of different models there.

I noticed that a while ago. Mine has the dipswitches to the left of the 2 joystick ports. Yet I've seen photos of others that have the dips positioned near the head phone jack on the back left.

Actually there are three different 2-slots:

MV2F (smaller, memory card reader)
MV2 (bigger, memory card reader)
MV2B (bigger, no memory card reader)

Dean, not to be off topic, but does anyone know who many different versions of 4-Slot boards there are?

I have two Neo19SC Candy Cabs both with 4-Slot MVS boards in the. The first cab and 4-Slot I acquired works great with stereo sound, the second cab I got is identical to the first other than the 4-Slot board is different from the first and I only get sound out of one speaker. I really want to get another 4-Slot like the frist one I had so I can get stereo sound out of both my cabs. Anyone know why this could be?

While we're at it, get a listing of the many different six-slot boards for completions sake

Im pretty sure there is at least 3 different versions of the 4 slot MVS board aswell. Like the 2 slots I have noticed the difference in size, locations of joystick ports, dips, headphone jacks...etc...

You should check the wiring on your Jamma Harness, on my Neo Candy 29 I had to make a slight change to the Jamma for different PCB's. They are not all wired up the same, mine had some missing wires (they come like that). It could be missing a ground wire? (That was the case with mine)

@ Dean,

You should have told me which 2 slot you had, I may have another cover for the MV2B. I'll have to look around though, lets see...

I have had the following 2-Slot boards (sorry don't know the letter's):

(smaller, no memory card reader- Earhone Jacks never soldered on)
(bigger, memory card reader)
(smaller, memory card reader)

All had covers. I now that I had both a large and small at the same time

Ask Kenyy Perry, He has seen just about every type of two slot there is..

afaik there is only one MVH6 version.
an important thing to remember with the different two and four slots is that some are two layered and others three (a copper track sandwiched in the centre of the pcb) so dont go drilling through the board unless youve established if there may be something in the way. Most of the centre will be common ground, but there are other tracks which if broken may render the board u/s (without a good deal of work)

There are at least 2 different 4-slots. The MV4F and the MV4FT2. The latter being considerably smaller.

In my work (arcade games) we have a very very strange 2slot MVS board.
It's written SNK, but there's no jamma/mvs slot, and there's 4 SVIDEO connectors (2 input! and 2 output!)
I'll take picture friday...

I am glad I didn't mess anything up when I drilled my four slot.....

Ya, there are a lot of different versions. I wish HardMVS had them all listed. That'd be super.

I'm game if someone wants to break it down with pictures.

The PCB section is getting ready to be redone, and I'd love to have it as complete as possible.

Whoever wants to do this will of course get full credit on the site for what that's worth.

Really guys, Briggs is being kind enough to offer everyone here the hosting space but I doubt going around collecting PCB pics is at the top of his priorities or even his fun list.

So get something moving here, start posting pics of known or unknown boards and work on identifying the boards to make it easy for him to just put up to his site for the community.
