That wouldn't surprise me. WHen I emulate them on mame, they have sound issues as well. This sounds like it's just another emulator.

Damn,why can't we get a perfect version of MK2 and MK3 :(
I also noticed that the MK1 version that came with the Kollectors edition of Deception sounded different from the emulator

Plays fine though, and that's good enough for me.

This is what I was afraid of. Sounds like the same problem the Sega Collection had on Dreamcast. Nice graphics but bad sound emulation. Anyway, I really wanted MK2 to have no sound issues out of anything. 11 years later, we still don't have an arcade perfect MK2. :(

I was pretty satisfied with my Saturn versions graphics, the sound and gameplay just sucked. I might be in the market to just buy the PCB finally.

I'll still buy this just for all the other great games included.

Yeah, MK 1 has some sound glitches on the Kollectors ED, but it still the best home verson to date, so I'm not too miffed. Still have to pick up this collection though. One of these days I'll have to grab the MK PCBs.

Actually I have also seen graphical glitches on it... but it wasnt anything big just a a square that had garbled up graphics that lasted just a few seconds. But other than that I love it.

Mothing fucking

I'm sorry, but I just find this extremely disappointing. WTF is the advantage to having this compilation over having t3h romZ, anyway? I'll play my Neo games on my consolized 4-slot, but I'm not gonna pay for a fucking romz disc with a fancy label - you may as well just have your bawkz modded. This is a fucking joke.

~lol complaining about a $19.99 game

If it plays perfectly, then it's better than the romz on xbox. At least in the case of MK2.

Yeah, I realize that it's 20 bucks and all, but it just seems like a waste to me. MK2 (the main reason for owning this) came out ten years ago, after all.

Personally, I would rather they get MK2 right and keep all the other stuff, and charge me 50 bucks for it. To me, it just really cheapens the experience when there are sound bugs for a 1994 game on what is a ridiculously overpowered system for that time. Oh well, I guess it's better than nothing, but I just find this really disappointing. WTF ever happened to quality control?

When you play your MVS games, you are playing ROMs...ROMs burned onto chips. The difference between that and playing t3h romZ downloaded onto your computer is that the money is going to the right people. Buying this compilation sends your money to those people. Anyway, for me, playing a slightly glitchy rom is closer to the real thing than a programmed from scratch port. The other thing being, I've never liked the MK series, and they are the games I'm least (or close to least) interested in on the disc anyway. I'm there for Sprint.

I just can't fathom how the PS2 can get a game like Street Fighter III: TS to run almost perfectly, yet the xbox can't run MK2 without garbled sound/graphical glitches? That's just being plain lazy.

I see what you're saying about the MVS games - but they play glitch-free, and the people who made them busted their asses to get things done right (well, until SNKP got there :emb: ). Giving these people money for a rom disc is just rewarding sheer laziness, if you ask me. Sometimes I wonder if these companies aren't just testing to see how gullable the game-buying public is, so that they can spend more time jerking off to porn or whatever it is they do.

Sorry for going off on a tirade like this, but I was expecting (perhaps foolishly) a near perfect port of MK2, and what I end up getting is shit that is probably worse than the MK2 rom on my hard drive. So after all this fekking waiting, I'm essentially back to square one.

I have been waiting a long time for a near perfect port of MKII, but it looks like I'll have to wait a little longer. Though not fully shafted, I am very happy with the games that are accompany this title. And hey for 20 bucks and about 20 odd games to go with it. I say that a little sound problem isn't all that bad. :p

Third Strike isn't emulated on PS2, it was a CPS3 game, and then was ported to the Dreamcast. You couldn't emulate either versions on PS2 easily, it was ported again.

MK2 is running off an emulator on a DVD on the xbox, if they ported them from scratch you would probably pay 20 bucks just for MK2 and 3. I'm sure they run better than they would on any PC, no emulation will ever be 100%.

Personally I want Total Carnage and Cyberball 2072 more than Mortal Kombat 2, I've played a kickass version of that on the 32X for years.

Anyone else see xbox is also getting the Sonic Mega Collection that was on the gamecube?

:buttrock:

hell's yeah...but I'm hoping that the MK stuff on the disc will be good enough for me to live with, and considering how much I loved the SNES port I'm sure it'll be just fine as far as I'm concerned...

but heaven help Midway if they f**ked up the controls for Sprint again

Any word as to putting Sonic CD on this one? Or are they copping out and abandoning it again?

Whatever works, I say. I'd rather have a really solid port than a glitchy emulated rom.

That works for me.

We waited all this time for an arcade perfect emulated version of MK 2 and 3 and all we get is some glitching sound? Ridiculous. :oh_no: :very_ang: :crying: Midway can burn in hell for all I care.

Yarrrr .... after waiting 10 years for a perfect port - it's looking like the supergun is the only way to get it right.

It just doesn't make sense. If the DC can have a near-perfect version of SF III: TS, then there's no excuse for the box not to have a perfect version (port or not, I don't give a fuck) of MK2/3.

Yeah, basically, that's a few of the only ways to really get REAL arcade perfect experience. Either go to gwtrading.com, buy yourself the HGA(Home Arcade System), and the circuit(JAMMA) board for it, get yourself a supergun and the board for it, or just own the arcade machine. It's up to you.

I'm starting to wonder how this compilation will differ between the different systems. The emulation would run best on the xbox if it was just a case of processing power, but it's almost always more complicated than that. Hopefully we'll see reviews for multiple systems on gamespot - they're getting kinda bad about just reviewing a game for one system and not mentioning the differences.
