Yeah, its in just under 2 hours, but I thought I'd start this thread to get the ball rolling.

Cheney vs. Edwards, live from Cleveland. They're going to be at Case Western, which is too bad because I think it would've been cooler to have it at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...

Anyone want to make a wager if Cheney will clutch his chest or left arm at any time during the debate? :emb:

I don't believe you; this is quite possibly the worst wager since the Beslan casualty lottery!

But since you're taking bets, $50 that Cheney will clutch his left arm but NOT his chest.

Sadly, a Cheney heart-attack is about the only really "amazing/interesting" thing I could imagine happening. We'll see, here they go:

Cheney is a formidable wall. Right now it only feels like Thursday Presidential Debate: The Elucidated Version.

And if I hear another 'Wrong place, Wrong Time, Wrong War,' I'm gonna seriously punch my fist through the wall.

Bullseye!!!

That was a VERY bad move of Cheney to point fingers at Kerry's support of arms reduction during the Cold War. I'm so glad Edwards pointed out the fact that Cheney himself recommended the said reductions while he was in the Reagan cabinet.

so, far, this theme of repetition seems to be continuing. That's kind of turning me off to the debate. Hopefully things will get better once they turn to domestic issues.

I just love watching Cheney seeth. Its not that he has anything to seeth about, its just what he seems to enjoy doing.

Did you guys see Cheney (very understandibly) not respond to Edwards comments on why a Gay Marriage Amendment/ban
was a bad idea. I can't blame him. He's personally against it and probably didn't want to touch it with a 10 ft. pole.

(then again, it also helps him to look like he doesn't always agree with W).

When I see how well reserved Cheney is and never faltering in his speech, I often wish he were the President and GWB the Vice Pres. "Oh well." ---This debate has held my attention longer than the other one.

I <3 ng.com political threads. Thanks for yet another liberal sploogefest - much appreciated, guys.

Anyway, I thought the debate went pretty well for both of them. Both guys looked sharp, IMO. I thought that Edwards played on the war pretty well, while Cheney did a nice job of attacking his and Kerry's voting records.

So yeah, this one was much more evenly matched than the presidential debates. I think Bush must've had diarrhea the night before or something .... :oh_no:

Cheney is great, he won this thing hands down.

Almost makes me wish the ticket was the other way around.

Cheney schooled him, I really expected Edwards to come off much better than he did.

Whilst Edwards wasn't that strong I don't think he got his arse handed to him. not at all. and in his closing comments he was showed his strength. But dissapointing in any case. What was that bullshit about Israel anyway?

I was actually impressed by Edwards' willingness to take a stand on such a sensitive issue.

Both sides are trying to court the Jewish vote.

Edwards went off on that comment because it was aimed directly at Jewish Americans.

Damn.

First work keeps me away from a SoCal gathering I didn't know took place, and now TestMasters keeps me away from the VP debate. Something feels wrong with this picture...

Hmm unless you're really in the dark about things, I don't think this debate should have changed anyone's minds. It was all so expected. I thought it was boring for that reason. Neither guy seemed to mess up or say anything too novel. To the people who said that Cheney won: What were you expecting from this debate? They both made good points against each other... I mean what about the Haliburton stuff, for example? Didn't you pick up on the good points made against Cheney? I really think you have to be either biased or uninformed to pick a clear winner in this one....

The same could likely be said about all the debates. The undecideds are about the only ones left who don't know where they stand by now.
