One of the saddest stories I've read in this entire mess.
For those that support this bullshit war, well, I hope it's worth it to you.

Freedom isn't free.

What the fuck are we fighting for?

Seriously, what?

Why the fuck did we invade Iraq?

We killed thousands of innocent people, we lost hundreds of soldiers...

For what?

Saddam?

He is back in Iraq.

This war is sickening.

Got any better topics to post?

Nah, I think it's pretty important.
We've got a President more than eager to spend human lives on his ill-conceived pet democracy project, yet won't even visit the services at Dover AFB for the incoming war casualties, for fear of drawing attention to the mounting human costs of this entire debacle. That's completely fucking sad.

Sorry to interrupt your bumper-sticker zeal for war. I guess it's a lot more difficult to justify when you really look at the whole thing, instead of viewing it through the Bush administration's 'reality-free' sound-bite prism.

Freedom isn't free and Bush knows it. He know's how hard it is. He watches it on TV.

Speaking through Hamilton, Dennis Wahrer said he wanted to ensure political overtones are not cast on the war in Iraq in the wake of his son's, and now his wife's, deaths.

"Karen would not have wanted that," Hamilton said. "What she said after Robbie died - that 'we're at war . . . war takes soldiers and those soldiers come from families' - that's how she felt. She understood that. She knew the risk was part of being in the military. "

Fucking awesome.

Ahh so you can only gauge how terrible the cost of freedom is only if you've served in the military. Right, guess FDR and Lincoln had no idea how hard things were on the troops.

You forgot Poland.

:)

I'm just kidding around, admit though that line sounds pretty dumb. I'll admit Kerry sucks too, but I think we're at a point of fixation in this country, cadidates are only going to come from 2 parties for a while and they'll continue to suck.

That's a terrible story,

Fucking Al Qaeda, this is all their fault!

Oh... wait, no... actually there was no link between Saddam and Al Qaeda... so is it Saddam's fault? Well, no -Saddam didn't want to pick a fight with the US and, from all evidence thus far, had no WMD to attack the US.

I'm not pointing any fingers.

I heard the quote as it was uttered, early in the debate. It wasn't exactly as bad as you put it:

"And now we're fighting them now. And it's hard work. I understand how hard it is. I get the casualty reports every day. I see on the TV screens how hard it is. But it's necessary work."

How is that any different than any other non military president, or any of us non-veterans, would come to understand the hardships of wartime service? It does make a good sound byte though, but if you get to use that then we get to use "I actually voted for the 87 Billion, before I voted against it".

:p

Before telling the lady about her newly-deceased son they should have put a banana cream pie five feet off to her left, that way when she collapsed her face would have landed humorously atop the pie.

Blueberry would work as well but the clean-up would be a bitch.

I do have to say that I find it funny how many citizens of our country were all for it when 911 happened, and then seemed to go "out of sight out of mind". Next time it happens I'm sure we'll get the same reaction again. 911's final toll of civilians, thats you and I an anyone else that doesn't sign up to possibly die for our country, was 2752. I'm not sure where the toll is as of now for our US soldiers, but this is why we are to honor those that serve in the military: because they are saying "I will give my life before they will take yours." NOT SAYING I'M PRO-WAR, just saying that I want to hear what the answer is, not isn't. What is the answer to the mess that we are in or even were in before the actual war was waged against terrorism? Pretend the war never started. What would be the right thing to do? Thats all I want to know.

seriously, in no way do I want to see anyone die. I doubt any of you do. So what is the answer? Nobody seems to have it. Especially the people that are talking the most.

It's essentially backseat driving on a global scale. Everyone always thinks that they can do it better.

When there hasn't been a massive attack in the past few years, people tend to forget what it feels like, and what the consequences of inaction can be.

9/11 essentially resulted from years and years of the international community turning a blind eye toward Al Quaeda, which is basically the same policy that we had been following with Iraq. Honestly, I used to think that staying away from these places was the best policy, but that's just not an option anymore.
