A while back, I posted about how I bought a used ps2 from gamestop and it was dirty as hell, so I returned it for a new ps2. Well due to lazyness and playing other games, I haven't opened the new ps2 at all. Now that this mini ps2 will be out soon, I wanna return this thing and get one of those, but I have no receipt.

Anyone know if any of the major stores will allow me to return an unopened ps2 without a receipt, for store credit?

Nope, I tried to exchange some Monster cables for my xbox and they said no. Gotta have a receipt, even for an exchange. :angry:

Try Wal-Mart. If the box is sealed, they'll take anything back in exchange.

that may not work anymore tho... walmart inventory managers got smart. most stores now have inventory scanning devices that, when an item get scanned, will spit out info of SKU, including who (store and location, not just walmart store, but the retailer) carried that particular SKU, and when it was sold... they would only take items purchased from another walmart period... :eek: :eek:

:( damn, caught me at the wrong time man.

You should definitelly try wallmart.

BTW, how did you originally pay for the PS2? did you ask gamestop if they keep reciepts on file (most uber corps do but some like to weassle out of returns by half assing that system or scrapping it all together)

I tried to take a nonworking Purple Gamecube back to Walmart in my black Gamecube box. I said I just got and it quit working, they told me to go get another so I did, when I came back and they had scaned the serial on the bottom of my old cube... the scan came back saying it was purchased in 2001, needless to say I was denied.

If was a funtime though! :)

I ended up just selling the unit bare on ebay for about the price I paid with 10 games. :D

exactly, sku codes have saved the industry in general they know if your game, toothbrush, or barely used condoms are from their store
