I'm getting ready to order my power supply, a few dsub connectors from Jameco. So I'm looking for some stuff I need or other projects and they don't have what I need, can somebody please tell me where I can get this stuff cheap?

- red, black\white, yellow panel mount rca jacks
- svideo jacks
- red, green, blue knobed Attenuators

They don't have to be gold plated but would be nice if they were.

Thanks,
Austin

For stereo sound, I still prefer to use a single 3.5 mm Stereo (Headphone) jack. I then use a cable with a headphone plug on one end and two rca plugs on the other. Saves haveing to drill and alling a hole. Also fits better in tight places.

I checked them out, they don't have gold plated or regular yellow rca, or svideo. But, their gold plated rca red and white looks good.

So... Is there anywhere else thats reputable ?

Edit: I found the yellow rca gold plated I will probally pick a few of these up.

Thanks for the link.

For the SVid jack, www.digikey.com part CP-2840-ND -- they are currently out, but if you need one, I have a couple extras on hand so I can sell you one.

For the RW/Y gold plated jacks, your local Radio Shack:

I believe this is the Red/White part number:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=274-852

And the Yellow:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=278-2075

This Yellow jack is part of their "Snap-In" series, but just take the connector out of the plasic housing :) If you can't find the Red/White set, they also have them in the Snap-In variety.

i know that it's less than 3/4 inches. Just get a 3/4 unibit to cut the holes.

Ok I found the jacks from parts express, I really like their pricing and I really like the svideo jack:

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=091-1212

Can anyone tell me the diameter of the plate on the outside that surrounds the jack? You know the big round piece?

Thanks

The outermost part is damn near 3/4". The hole size you'll need is just bigger than 1/2", maybe 9/16".

If you want, I could take a picture of my Neo with the Parts Express jacks used in the mods. I think they look really nice together, and the gold complements the black of the Neo nicely. If you would like to see how they look, gamejunkie, then let me know and I'll get a pic taken.

Thanks man, but I've seen these in other people setups. I just didn't know where to get them.

I'm ordering some tonight.

I use nickel plated jacks, and a mini din from Digikey for S-video. Way cheaper, if not as pretty.

They are just JACKS after all, that will not be on display, and WILL be obscured by attached cables.

But hey, it's neo-geo.com. What was I thinking! Practicality and sense? Logic? Silly me! :glee:

This pic actually has two ratshack gold composite jacks, but shows the plainer (and cheaper) mini din I use for S-video. I use all silver composite jacks now.

Isn't using Ratshack for parts like disassembling mcdonalds products for cooking food?

Ah, but you underestimate the fact that people want the system to look pretty at ALL times. Most people do. Yeah, it has to work. But it doesn't take that much more effort or $$$ to make it look nice too.

On that note, I use nickel-plated RCA mounts sometimes too. Sometimes they look better on a specific console. I like them on Genesis models especially.

Are you trying to say that spending $300 on a game is illogical??

Hey now, I pre-ordered SSVS AES. :D I'm as crazy as the next guy.

I do mods for Canadians mainly. Lots of canucks don't like the unfavourable exchange rate (add 25% if paying in US funds), and the good possibility of customs charges sending expensive insured hardware back and forth.

I will not get into a price war here with good established modders like yourself, Jeff and Kenny. Let's just say that nickel jacks and plainer S-video jacks means considerable savings to the canucks who use me, and I of course accept Canadian $$$. I do good work, but I will be the FIRST to acknowledge those with superior experience to mine. No bull from me. :glee:

I get calls about mods all the time. I've sent people to you, and to Jeff on numerous occasions. Why should someone who is local to you guys, send to me?

I think the gold is cool, but not worth importing into Canada when I can get same quality stuff here, locally, cheaper. If I order gold from the same places you guys do, it's not just the $$$ difference, but extra ship, gauranteed duty buying from a business, and unfavourable exchange rate.

It's all good. You wanna pay in Canadian pesos, you can get the nickel plated jacks, that can't be seen if you actually hook up your Neo and play it.

I haven't ordered yet... I'm still debating. Does anyone know if Jameco sells svideo jacks? I see they have the pcb svideo jack, but do they have a panel mount?

pcb svideo jack

Since I'm ordering my power supply from Jameco and they have everything else I need besides svideo jacks, I would hate to send another money order to another store just for svideo jacks.

I'm also thing about grabbing a bunch of these from crazearcade.com. They are have the price of those gold ones...

Hey sharp....

Are you ordering a JROK?

IF so you can ask james to send you one without the The Jacks Mounted on..... He will send you a Nice RCA jack and a Decent Svideo Jack with the wires already soldered to the Jack end.

on a side note,

I'm thinking about dropping all S-Video and RCA connectors for my different projects and just using some Propriatiary setup.

No I went with a video encoder from crazearcade.com the Jrok dude never resonded to me... I don't think that I'll be doing business with him.

I've been playing my 2slot using the crazearcade encoder and the colors are better than any mvs cabinet I've seen in person. I think I'll keep doing business with crazearcade they are very quick with shipping and they keep in touch with you.

Are you going to have some jacks left over?

I've got an extra s-vid jack. Its one of the huge gold-plated ones. If you need it, I'll just mail it to you.
