Come on man... what a half-assed list.

There's no Gordon Liu, Sammo Hung, David Chiang, Ti Lung, etc...

Oh well, doesn't matter all that much I suppose, since I'm a Bruce Lee fanboy anyway.

Are we talking who would win a fight?

Benny the Jet.

Why is Jim Kelly on the list? Just because he was in Enter the Dragon?

Black Belt Jones.

This isn't based on his abilities, it's based on the line "BATMAN MOTHERFUCKER!" and the slow motion shot of that guy flying 20ft to and then through a window.

Jim Kelly was in a number of other movies besides Enter the Dragon. In fact, one of the things I hate about EtD (and there are more than a few) is that they killed his character without giving him enough screen time, and let the white guy who obviously had about 4 days kung fu experience in his life be a hero and co-star with Lee.

I vote for the guy who was in Thundering Mantis and a bunch of others, but I forget his name (Fu Sheng?). I'm not saying he was the best...he was a movie kung fu guy, like most of them, not a real kung fu guy. But that movie was so great. "The kid, the kid...! They killed the kid..." and he goes insane at the end and starts eating people. Awesome.

Leung Kar Yan

Thundering Mantis, The Miracle Fighter, Fearless Dragon, and he also had a great (but not leading) role in One Man Army.

Never actually seen Thundering Mantis though... but the promise of kung fu cannibalism is very intriguing.

Its all about Jackie Chan. Up until his current crop of BS hollywood schlock anyway. His fight scenes are great and his stunt work.....need I say more.

I like Bruce and all but you never saw him pulling off the stunts that Jackie did.

I have all the respect in the world for Bruce Lee, but Sonny Chiba was/is a mean and nasty bastard... more rugged than graceful, and that's what I like about his style.

MERCENARY X99

{Quote Sonny Chiba as Terry Surugi:

"I hate punks more than anything, and I would love to see the MOB destroyed. You tell that bitch how sorry I am I can no longer be her friend!"

Yeah, Jackie can move like no one else.
I voted for Jet Li though. He can pull off a lot of fighting moves most others can't.

Without his wires, flying rigs and CG Jet Li is nothing.

I don't think any of those people had the kind of insane martial arts skill posessed by Bruce Lee. Most of the rest of the folks on that list were actors/entertainers first, Bruce Lee was an accomplished martial artist who innovated like crazy and just happened to become a movie star because of his skill. Yes, Jackie gets all kinds of respect for doing his own stunts, but in a fight, I'd put the money on Bruce. The man was in the most insane shape, has anyone here ever read up on the regimen he kept up? Literally hours and hours of training every single day.
He'd outlast and outquick anyone on that list.

Actually, I think Jet Li is supposed to be one of the people who can actually fight, not just an actor/stuntman like most of them.

Haha. Great poll. No contest though. As much as i love Sonny Chiba's films, I can't help but laugh when i see him, especially in The Street Fighter, which is unintentionally one of the funniest movies ever made. Bruce Lee has become an icon like mickey mouse, elvis, marilyn, etc. That says it all.

In terms of Kung-Fu stars and their characters, I have favor David Chiang and Ti Lung pairing in Shaw Brothers films from the 70's. Also notable are Chen Kuan-Tai, Alexander Fu Sheng, Gordon Liu Chia-Hui of SB fame. It is about how they shine in their movies that make these guys memorable for me.

jet li was the world champion a few times over in a couple martial arts styles, he can fight, he just can't touch jackie in movies.

Jet Li has several world championships during his career...
Watch Fist of Legend... you'll see what I mean.
Very few wires used in that movie.

Jet Li is fast. Real fast.
