HELL !!!

I don't believe I could post on a thread like this but...

GREGORY HORROR SHOW !!!!!!!!!!

Just a damn it's PS2 exclusive. I bet if it was a GC game people would say it's a kiddy game.

GHS rules.

I am a similar situation as you. I have VF4 Evo, and Katamari Damacy. My list of recommendations that I will be getting soon includes Street Fighter II Anniversary Collection, Dodonpachi Dai-oujou (import), Twisted Metal Black, Gradius V, and Time Splitters 2, Phantom Brave, Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics and Suikoden III and IV. I think this selection of games should cover the elite from many genres, although there are many more games that are on the must have list as well.

I enjoy very much the next ones:

ZOE
Kingdom Hearts
ICO
Silent Hill 2
SF3 3rd
Tony Hawk's 3

also, I had quite good memories of Ring of Red and if there's any DBZ fan, Budokai 1 is a great game.

Anyone knows how good/bad is Suikoden 3 compared to the previous ones?

CONTRA IS A MUST. (rich replayability value)

- KOF: MI
- Gradius V
- Devil May Cry
- Onimusha 3 (no need to play the previous two games to understand the story)

RPGS:

- Suikoden 3
- FFX (medicore story, quick/easy to get into battle system, excellent side quests)
- Star Ocean 3

worth checking:

- Ico
- Rygar
- Mark of Kri (too short: 6 levels, solid presentation)
- ZOE2: Anibus

Although I don't own, yet have played and do second the following:

Rygar
ZOE I&II (the latter being even better than the former)

I own(ed) and enjoy(ed):

Gran Turismo 3 A-spec
Gungrave (OD is a nice upgrade as well)
Shinobi

If you like shooters (or just a challenge and 1CC games), pic up:

Contra: Shattered Soldier
dodonpachi DAI-OU-JOU
Espgaluda
Gradius V
R-Type Final
Shikigami No Shiro

Those are all PS2 exclusive.

Really, I only own PS2 for a handfull of exclusives and shmups. PS2 is the shooter system right next to the superb little Dreamcast by Sega.

Klonoa2 is an average game, you will like it if you li ked the first one though.

Narutimetto Hero2 is a good alternative fighting game.

Klonoa 2 is a bit slow and less challenging compared to other good platformers. as Mushiki said, it's an average game imo.

as for Jak games and Ratchet games, I recommend checking Jak and Daxter 1 first. excellent presentation and control. I haven't played through any of the 6 games, but I found Jak 1 the most appealing. I may finish it later. but for the rest, I don't think I'll ever touch them.

some say Ratchet and Clank 1 is cool too, but I found it boring. I don't know. maybe you need to check it as well. go to http://ps2.ign.com/ and download some videos. I'm sure it will be very helpful for making a decision.

Ratchet & Clank is a pretty fun game, really cool weapons.

Anyway, go buy the new Official Playstation Magazine and play Metal Gear Solid 3. I love the game already. It also has a demo of Neo Contra, which is really great.

How does Neo Contra play? From what I read in some mag, they were concerned about the controls. Mentioned something about hoping they'd just use both analogues as opposed to the face buttons. Not sure what I think about this.

Is it comparable to say... Cannon Spike? Or more like the top-down levels from Contra III. I really want this game to be good, but I'm doubtful I'll like it as much as I did Shattered Soldier.

Neo Contra was pretty fun. I suppose it did play a little like the over head levels in Contra 3, but its very fast paced. The controls take a little getting used to, but once you do it's second nature.

I've never played Cannon Spike, so I can't comment there.

Neo Contra will own your souls.

I'm probably more excited for it than any other game except for Halo 2.
