I'm sure CDs were pressed eariler on of N.W.A.'s albums like 100 Miles & Runnin', Niggaz 4 Life, and of course the one that started it all Straight Outta' Compton! but I can never find them. Heck it's harder than a mother fucker just trying to find the cassette tapes of their music. ---I've been in a Gangsta' Rap mood for about 6 months now, and want to go back {even for a moment in time} to my Junior High years when it was all about, FUCK THA POLICE!

...any help tracking down the CDs would be great.

if they're not available in-store, sometimes a music store's website could get you what you want...for harder to find stuff I usually try Tower Records or Virgin

I'd prefer Public Enemy myself, but that's besides the point...
:glee:
good luck Merc!

Yeah I'm a Public Enemy guy myself, still have all their tapes... but I miss the HARDCORE "Fuck You" attitude that the Niggaz With Attitude displayed back in the late 80's - early 90's. *It was enough to scare the shit out of the FBI that they told Easy E's record label to "Watch your step". *Today's Hip-Hop is all about some skeezer shakin' her ass at a club, or stupid shit. Back when NWA hit the scene {and solo stuff by Ice Cube} they sang about their angst and was just against the social grain of what is still today considered not acceptable, which is why I miss the style. Slim Shady started off kind of in this manner, although with a lot of dark humor, but now I can't stand him either, or his D-12.

...anyhow the quest to find these old CDs continues. *Maybe with GTA San Andreas coming out a "Best of NWA" CD will be released or something, that would be nice.

Ahhhhh .... good old N.W.A.

Now that's when rap was rap, my friends.

A moment of silence for a bygone (but not forgotten) era ... :crying:

There was also NWA and the Posse tat was officially made before Straight Out of Compton. The re-hashed version came out after SOC though.

You ever been pissed at the police? I'd say that one has a pretty universal appeal.

Yeah but I've also had to call them so I know deep down they are needed. I never said your opinion was wrong as we are all entitled to our opinion. In my humble opinion they were the start of the "thug rappers" that are so mainstream now a days. That is not to put down their work , its just not my cup of tea.

Not that It'll help but there is a movie/music store in Grand Prairie that has about 3 copies of that CD. It's called "Movie Trading Co.".

I've never done either as well, but the shit was just funny to listen to when you were upset about ANYTHING really. You could just sit back and listen to these outlandish lyrical ballads of death + the skits on those tapes were freckin' hilarious. Like Galfordo said... The appeal is universal. *Too bad most of these HARDCORE Niggaz became "mainstream" and either produce or sing about nothing at all. I don't see why DRE, ICE CUBE and DMX and a bunch of them don't just get together and make like the FAH-Q TAPE: Return To The Dark Side or some shit. I'm sure people who either remember the good ole' days of gangsta' rap or newbies alike would buy the shit up, plus resurrect the controversy of overly violent/profane songs. Quite frankly I'm tired of the Ushers and Outkasts of the world. Bring me back some "Barbarism".

Yeah, you're probably right - but the "thug rappers" of today are much different. Back then, it was more about describing things that actually happened in the ghetto - violence, prostitution, gangs, etc - in a really gritty fashion. Today, all these guys seem to want to do is to talk about who has more diamonds, bigger rims, and more gold. The materialism thing is just one-dimensional, and frankly most people can't relate to it. It's no longer about telling a story, and has seemingly deteriorated into little more than a rhyming penis-size contest with a catchy beat.

Best Buy!
I bought Straight Outta' Compton from there about a year ago, and it was the original pressing. I know because it had the original contact numbers in the CD book for calling there manager for booking shows.

I guess it's approiate to say "Fuck tha police!" cause I got a damn ticket today! I was coming home from the football game today (since it was postponed) and I took a different route home. Unfortunally, that route kept me from seeing what I needed to see and the police stopped me. He said I didn't give the people across from me the right of way and I told him I couldn't see my position until I turned cause it was raining and there were hardly any lights for me to see if I could turn or not. From now on, I'm going home the way I always come in so I don't have to deal with this shit again.
