Ive noticed a few threads on firearms in unrelated recently (the disturbing thing is the want of automatic weapons), example below
http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101264
Considering there are kids visiting this site, should we entertain or be glorifying or even talking about the ownership/ use of fire arms ? considering the young audience.
Thy would be better off shooting up in Metal Slug !

These days, any kid who reads ng.com topics just goes out and buys a gun.
I once told a kid about KOF, and he orochnagi'd his teacher.

You should work for the Playmore Censorship Brigade. I heard that PCB is hiring and your attitude would fit like a puzzle piece.

But seriously, dude - those firearms threads are the least of a kid's worries that shows up here. Between the tubgirl photos, goatse, to vids of people being killed .... and then the Dinkins is a whole 'nother issue. :oh_no:

And ng.com certainly doesn't have a monopoly on this shit either. It's like that guy said, "the internet is a wonderland waiting to skullfuck your children".

Listen Jack, when I have (kidnap) a kid it's going to take all the will power that I can muster to keep myself from exposing my genitals to Dinkins Jr., let alone firearms.

Chances are if he/she/chimp catches a glimpse of my pea-shooter it's going to be made of flesh and connected to my crotch.

Hey, most've the people here are kids inside. Why else buy more than one gun? Its one of those childhood desires they now have the money to spend on so they now do...

Kind of like the Neo Geo.

Besides, the US glorifies guns (well, half the US). Its not surprising to see it reflected in posts.

The reality of the situation is that there's a very real gun culture in some parts of the United States where people teach their kids how to shoot a the age of 11 or younger and teach them how to handle firearms responsibly. There's even youth sports shooting in some areas along with paintball (more universal then regional) and other things like gold star racing.

Personally I'm in an area relatively devoid of "gun culture" and I'm relatively happy with that. But the reality of the situation is that alot of people on the forum are from those very areas (i.e the 40,000 members from texas) and they see nothing wrong with it.

This forum is composed of mostly 20-somethings and *NOT* kids so I fail to see anything objectionable about it. If this forum were meant to be kid safe from the outset explain the presence of the war room.

I'm actually about a 2 minute walk from the colliseum as I'm typing this and yes I'm aware of the store. I didn't intend to make a blanket statement that don't own guns in my area, just that gun ownership isn't as widespread as it is in other areas of the country.

If you travel upstate or go to New Hampshire, virtually everyone owns a gun and activities like hunting and sport shooting are almost considered a rite of passage. There's also no denying that a large a cultural difference exists between the "Red" states and the "Blue" states or in different regions of NY for that matter. But on Long Island gun owners are definitely in the extreme minority (although if I had to live in hempstead I'd probably be armed to the teeth as well).

There's guns everywhere... we just don't have a huge "mainstream" gun culture like other areas do.

My entire argument was that the large scale social acceptability of firearms depends on the area. Bascially stating that nothing should be done about Toddy's largely cultural hang-up since it would be catagorically unfair to place one opinion in higher regard than others present on the forum.

Naah they don't bother/influence me at least. For crying out loud, because I read about weapons I'm gonna turn into a violent child serial killer? Leave them up, they're no biggie.

We kids are a minority, y'all don't have to bend to us.

I beleive that has as much to do with movie culture as it has American culture.
