Like say I want to take the first 20 seconds of a song and cut that and make it its own mp3 or wav...

I'd say look for a cracked version of CoolEdit Pro or Adobe Audition. I have an older version of CoolEdit Pro (like 2000 old), but I think you have to convert the file to .wav before you can edit it...

i always used goldwave for those tasks.

it's crackable and has an optional lame encoder to work with mp3s.

i was just about to say, someones making ringtones!

i usually use oldwave for audio editing, since its quick and easy.

if youre looking for an encoder or anything like that (great ripper too) try dbpoweramp, its hott like kof97

Nero Burning Rom comes with Wave Editor. Pretty neat little program. www.ahead.de
