Its actually not that unusual for some shops to have an anime DVD in stock well over a week before the actual release.

I got my R1 Chrono Crusade + box about 12 days before is oficial US street date, and that was from a shop in the UK (one that specialises in imports)

Usually when it comes to anime dvd, Best buy seems to put stuff out 2 weeks prior to it's release. I remember getting R.O.D. TV box 2 weeks in advance from best buy. Same thing goes for animenation.

The store where I get all my games from gets and sells DVDs early as hell. They've had the Star Wars box set for about 3 weeks now

How is this anime? I've never seen it before, do you think I should go buy it?

It's a lot of fun. It's not as good as the Manga of the same name, but it is really a good show.

Is it worth paying $25+ shipping to get it early by a week or 2? No. You can find it cheaper elsewhere.

Depends on your taste in anime really.
Its just a very light comedy set in a highschool over 3 years. No nudity, no huge demons, no spikey-hared heroes, just lots of silly jokes about odball schoolgirls and a slightly perverted male teacher (still no naughtyness though)
Its basically all gag-based with no larger plot, which makes it easy to dip into in short bursts. Its funny, but not rib-splittingly so. I usually get one good laugh out of each 25-min episode, and the rest of the gags are enough to keep me smiling throughout.

Usually if you preoder on-line they ship as soon as they have something in stock. Amazon won't do this but most other places do.

I believe toy_brain buys all his stuff from DVD Pacific.

Usually I buy from DVDpacific as slerch said.
The UK shop in question is www.citycyberanime.com who are based in Leeds.
They are a bit expensive so I try and avoid buying from them, but they do next-day delivery if you order before 4pm, so they're usefull if I'm desperate to see something (like Chrono Crusade)

Little one shot shops release games/dvds early all the time. Its the big corporate chains that have to respect the release dates. It doesn't hurt the product or companies that produce the products anyway. I think thats why the overlook it.
