Spain vs USA (Davis Cup Tennis final)

It's going to take place on December 3-5 in Spain. The city is still unknown: there is some pressure to do it in Madrid, but its high altitude would give advantage to the USA bombers as Roddick. Sevilla, Valencia and Barcelona are other candidates. The best place to give advantage to the Spanish team would be the Canary Islands though.

I think it's going to be a close match. The young Nadal (18) played very well against France, plus the veterans Moya and Ferrero. Who will win? What do you think?

Nadal is quite good, but I don't see him beating Roddick without a little bit of luck. Also, if this was being held on clay, we'd be in deep $hyt3.

Speaking of the tennis world ... man, Federer is just fucking dominant. Unless he gets injured or starts hittin' the chronic, he'll be the next Pete Sampras.

Well, since this is going to be held in Spain, we have the privelege to select the surface, so obviously it is going to be "tierra batida", which I assume is "clay" in English. At least Spain has got that advantage. It would actually be better if they played in an open place, but since this is being held in December, this might no be possible, unless they go to the Canary Islands as I mentioned.

Some years ago Spain beat Australia in the final here in Barcelona, playing in a covered basketball (actually multisports, they use it for many different things)stadium built for the 92 Olympic games, over "tierra batida" of course. But I think last year Spain had to play the final in Australia, over grass, and they got owned.

It's going to be held in Sevilla, in the south of Spain, at sea level. Unfortunately it won't be done in Madrid, although they wanted it to increase the chances of Madrid hosting the 2012 Olympics. The sportive criteria has got to prevail.
