First let me say a big THANK YOU to Riotoftheblood for hooking me up with some NTE85 transistors. They worked a treat.

Anyways I finally got my S-video mod done on my AES this afternoon and first thing I realised is that the tutorial on this here website has the luminance and chrominance connections on the plug around the wrong way!

Once this was fixed I really did notice the vertical lines. They weren't too prominant when using composite, and I did managed to lessen the effect by turning the sharpness down on my TV.

JMKurtz, I remember you mentioning awhile back about a fix you were working on to combat this video problem. How is progress going?

You're welcome! I'm glad your mod was successful, even if you have the lines. I have two consoles and I've modded the older one, 147XXX, and I couldn't ask for a better picture. At first the reds seemed more pinkish, which wasn't a big deal, but now I don't even notice, and the gains in clarity and color seperation were more than enough to make up for that anyway.
