As an interesting note, the franchise's creator Hideo Kojima has stated the Nintendo DS to be his development platform of choice and that he considers the PSP to be a fashion/status accessory more than anything else. Where was this interview? The Official Playstation Magazine.

Doubt it's true. I don't think anybody has big enough balls to tell sony off like that especially when developing games on their systems. Besides, how many Konami games were released on Sony hardware and how many on Nitendo hardware (recently) ... it's just not happening

There was an interview with the guy behind RE (who was and is still working at Capcom) who said Sony manufactures it's systems to break to artificially inflate it's user base numbers by having repeat buyers.

He has not, that I am aware, worked on games for the PS2.

Seriously, I think all that is crap. I am not a Sony fanboy or anything. In fact, for the past year or even more, I only owned an XBOX. But before that, I had the PS2s since launche dates in Japan and America. My systems worked fine for several years till I ended up selling them for lack of good releases. Now I am reconsidering getting the new PStwo due to the fact it's top loading and it's significantly smaller for a reasonable price.

Now back to the point, I think that people automatically hate on Sony no matter what they make just for their past. If you look at it, the new PSP is an amazing machine. It delivers PS1 graphics and even better in a portable device. Also, the titles they revealed so far are great. YS, Tales of Eternia, DMC, Sengoku Cannon, FF7:AD, Vampire Chronicles .. and so on.

Even though I prefer Nintendo over Sony any day, I have yet to see a list of games on the DS that will compete with the PSP. Well yeah sure the Zelda remakes are great .. they've been great on the SNES, the N64, the GC, and all the gameboys. Every goddamn zelda game has been ported five fucken times. Every time there is a new system there is a remake.

The fact remains, each system has its advantages. Nintendo will keep pumping out it's Marios and Metroids but that's almost all it has to offer. Even though the DS will be the first one I get.. I am definately giving the PSP a chance.

I am sick of peoples fucken hypocracy. Look around the board and you will see what I mean. The NEO is a big example. First people wanted new hardware and when they got it, they all bitched. Then they start bitching about cut and paste low resolution sprites, and now that rebout has high resolution sprites everyone is complaining. Well you know what .. 90% of the board can suck my dick .. they think they're "hardcore" gamers but all they do is wine and bitch

One more thing about slerch's comment. Assuming what the guy said was true, even though he is the guy behind RE, how the fuck would he know something like that about the PS2. I mean what the PS2 just goes up to game developers and tell them their dark plots and secrets. It's just a bunch of bullshit slapped together by some noob, posted on gamefaqs or ign, and then more assholes spreading that shit around.

Again, I am not a Sony fan. Never really liked the Hardware untill the PSP. However, hearing stupid shit like that makes me ill to my stomach. I mean in the name of all "common sense" .. do you really believe shit like that. Sony's PS2 breaks because it's a piece of shit .. not because "the guy behind RE" said so.

It's all about the money. Nobody sucks nobody's dick. Any game developer with a half brain would release their games on the PS2, because that's where the money is. Shit .. bring the biggest sony hater in the world .. give him a game developing company, and he will start releasing sony exclusive games. I'm ready to bet my left nut and my right arm on that.

Theoretically, it's true. But this shit is simply not gonna happen.

First of all, Square Enix is out of the quesion, Sony already owns a decent chunk of that.. those fuckers are gonna be stuck with Sony for a while, not that I am proud of that

Capcom is a bad example. First of all .. Capcom doesn't really control the market. It's not like the sales of the GC skyrocketed because of the exclusivity of the RE games on it. I mean shit, most RE games are $20 now and nobody cares. Second thing, do you remember how hesitant Capcom was about the exclusivity of RE4 on the GameCube. One week it's GC exclusive .. and then they start telling people that it might not be exclusive. I bet Nintendo had to kiss their ass to let them keep that game. Final thing, you know how Vietiful Joe was supposed to be only for GC .. well now it's out on PS2 and the sequel to it is coming out one week earlier on PS2.

Konami wise, they already love the PS2. Even though they release almost the same games on XBOX as well. Those games generally sell more on the PS2 anyway.

So despite the fact that Microsoft is a multibillion company, and Nintendo has shitload of many and always will. PS2 is still the money maker and that's where the releases will be.

It may sound like I'm taking this shit personally but I'm not. I really don't like Sony at all. Just stating the obvious truth. The XBOX is fairly superior to the PS2 .. but that doesn't mean that they will EVER sell more than the PS2. Maybe on the first week when Halo 2 is released .. but that's where it stops.

yeah i know that was my whole point except in my version nintendo had to suck their dick.

and sometimes, as prolly in the case of viewtiful joe, the exclusive contract only lasts for a period of time. costs nintendo a whole lot less but they still get the "only for nintendo!" tag and a year or so down the line when the contract is up capcom can release it on other hardware.

point is noboy has to beg ps2 to release their game. anyone can do it if they have a good product. its always the hardware that must bend over backwards to satisfy certain big name developers.

and if some dude from square or capcom said sony makes a shit system sony better smile through every inch of their vile penatration and then ask for seconds once its done.

and yeah cube sold a shitload more systems than it would have if it didnt have RE.

Wow man, didn't mean to make you angry or anything, nor was my comment a sign of 'fanboyism.' Hell, I barely play ANY games these days, it's damn near impossible for me to be a fanboy.

That article was on the Internet in SEVERAL respected video game news services (I believe I saw it on gamespot, as a NEWS article, not a message board posting). What the guy said was his opinion and I took it as such. He obviously had similar problems with his PS2 to what I experienced.

If you read the article you'd know what I meant. Where did I ever say the PS2 brok because the guy at Capcom said it did? Unfortunately I can't find the article, but if I do I'll post it.

I'm glad for you. I went through 4 systems before I got one without problems. And before you say 'it's cause you don't treat it right' I'll shoot that one in the ass. I got my PS2 on launch. I took really good care of it, kept dust/dirt off it, sat in an area free from clogged vents and all that. 6 months later, DREs on DVD games. Back it went. 3 months later, keeping it pristine, same deal, except it was CDs this time that gave DREs. Brought one home, brand new, DVD DREs. Took that back, got another. 3 months later, DREs. At this point I was pretty pissed that I had to go through all this bullshit, and this was before Sony's offer to fix DREs for free. The system I have now I treat like absolute shit, and it works perfectly. I beat on it. I let it get dusty as all hell. I don't care about that piece of shit and it continues to work flawlessly.

Now tell me, do I have no right to hate Sony? I had similar issues with my PSX, but had an extended warranty on it. I only had to go through 3 systems in 2 years to get one that still works (my niece has it now).

Because of my PS2/PSX experiences, I will never purchase another piece of Sony equipment. If their other lines are even only 1/4 as bad as the PS2, I don't want anything to do with it.

I worked at a game store for 5 years.
I've seen alot of playstation 1000 systems go bad
and I've seen a whole lot of ps2 systems gone bad.
moreso actually. or maybe because it seems to be more widely bought.
the xbox had some problems with the harddrive but never as problematic
as the playstation 2 systems.
alot of people proclaim they've had a launch ps2, and I think that's great,
but whether or not one craps out on you is pretty much a pick of the draw.

Unfortunately for us, Igarashi Kouji aka IGA is gone totally mad already with that deep shit that the PS2 Catslevania is, thus there's no risk at all...

He said it in both OPM and EGM( in their blown out PSP or DS articles ), just forgot which issue it's in( I do have both ) but for OPM I'm sure it was a issue before the 40 covers for Def Jam FNY.

Meh I'll get both( DS first and the PSP much later since I get the feeling the it will cost to much and will konk out real quick like the PSX & PS2 )
