Is it possible to run GunCon2-based games through S-Video on the PS2? Is there a commercially available convertor out there?

I've been itching to pick up a GunCon2 for a bunch of games (Time Crisis 3, Crisis Zone, Ninja Assault, etc etc), but I run my PS2 through S-Video, and don't particularly relish the idea of unplugging and re-plugging (not to mention playing through composite) every time I want to play a gun game. Any suggestions?

I'm fairly certain you're stuck with our old friend composite for the light guns...not gonna stop me from picking up RE: Dead Aim for PS2 and Silent Scope for Xbox though.

It's very simple:

Get a third party multi-out that has both S-video and Composite out put. Simply hook up you s-vid like normal, and attach the RCA plug from the Guncon 2 into the yellow video lead on the Composite, and there you go!!!

Forgot to mention: It also worls with Component. I usually put the Green lead into the the Guncon, then to the TV.

That solves the problem of needing to switch the cables every time you want to use it, but you are still going through composite regardless. I'm sure most agree that composite video looks like utter shit, and is completely intolerable.

These is some sort of video adapter you need to use to get this to work. It costs like $15 new, and it's an official sony product. It's a pain to hook up, and costs extra, but it lets you use your light gun with true s-video/component video.

True.

I got mine hooked up with component through the green lead and it works flawlessly!.

If S-vid, you must buy the adapter?

You still plug in your S-video, and you still view it though S-video. You only need to connect it through Composite so that the gun can see it. You don't even need to plug in the Composite to your TV.

If you look on the back of your PS2 box, check the bottom set of photos. The seventh one from the left is an AV adaptor that you plug your component or s-vid cable at the end, and the Guncon2 composite on the side. It basically just adds stereo and video RCA jacks in addition to whatever other cable you want to use. I like this device because you plug the Guncon in right behind the PS2 instead of directly into the TV, while keeping your cleaner, higher quality video signals.

You need this adapter, it has a pass through for the S-Video cable. But it is impossible to find, I have been looking for one for over a year now.

There's one at a store by me with one in the display shelf that's been there for years.

Shirty if you want me to pick it up get on aim tonight and I can ship it to you by the end of the week.

Yah, that's the one I'm talking about. I have a grey one from the PS, doesn't look nearly as nice as the black one, though. I think I have a black 3rd party version hiding in my closet somewhere.
