new muisc, shitty voices, bad translations, stupid fucking edits.

they changed the marines to the navy...WHY?

and the guys name is fucking ZORO not ZOLO :very_ang:

im surprised its still 'loofy' and not 'luf-fy'

so so bad.

i hate when they change the music, it destroys the show.

More than likely this will get an unmolested DVD release at some point. Fuckimation has already secured deals with 4Satan on other shows, both to release the molested version and the unmolested version, I doubt One Piece will be any different.

Of course, if you like buying Fuckimation releases and they go by past history, considering OP is what, over 130 episodes (I thought it was WAY over that, but I don't follow it) at 3 episodes a disc, we're looking at a 43 disc series! I'm exagerating, though if they stick with their single layer 4 eps per disc like YYH, it would come to 33+ discs to it. Fuck that.

And One Piece is probably still widely available in fan sub format, why not just download that?

im pissed that its a shitty dub.

i look forward to dubs just because its another reason to re watch stuff, especially if the dub is on par with the original.

but changed music, fucking up zoros name, changing the marines to the navy, EDITING THE FUCKING GUNS, THEYRE STILL FUCKING GUNS NO MATTER WHAT COLOR OR SHAPE THEY ARE. changing the rice balls to fucking chocolate chip cookies with fucking square chips (mustve been a 5min job)

when funimation does unmolested versions, are they completely new dubs? because the voices are pretty horrible,

The Marines are a department of the Navy, but I understand what you're saying. Most people think the Marines are a whole separate branch of the military. What Funimation did there wasn't as much of a stretch as you might think.

Sometimes I get upset with all butchering Funimation has done to various anime classics. But for all the harm they've done, they've also brought anime to a demographic that never would have had the opportunity to watch and appreciate the art form. Hopefully after those people see the dubbed and edited versions, they'll want to go out and find the real thing.

Fuckimation hasn't released any of their 4Satan stuff on DVD yet, but it's my understanding that if they are doing a dub for it, they plan to go back with the original VAs and record the lines and such that were cut from the 4Satan version. IF Fuckimation gets OP, look forward to the same shitty character voices.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure it's because 4Kids decided to go ahead and spell the names phonetically.

The Japanese language has no 'uh' vowel, so even though his name is spelled in the dossiers as 'Luffy,' Japanese pronounce it 'Loofy.'

Same with Zoro. The Japanese pronounce it Zolo.

There is no "L" in modern Japanese. Phoneticly "L" turns into "R" so "zolo" would turn into "zoro" but "zoro" would stay "zoro" (They did that just to avoid trademark issues with a certain gay blade)

At any rate it shows that funimation and 4kids are worse tranlators than Hecto/ShinSenGumi/AnimeJunkies ever were (which says a lot)

Yeah this reminds me of how I found out that one of my fave characters from Armor Hunter Merowlink named "Rulushi Ramon" was actually "Lulusy" but in the anime's it's always pronouned Rulushi, which to me sounded better anyhow.

#2> Stupid edits like this have been around since the days of Tetsujin 28 / Gigantor in the 60's, and later in the early 80's on the Galaxy Express 999 movie #1, Captain Harlock was called "Captain Warlock" and was dubbed by a John Wayne sounding guy? I don't think ridiculous changes will ever go away when corportations are trying to reach a bigger demographics, and that demographics is aimed at KIDS, thus since the average dipshit doesn't care about this stuff the comapnies in question do not either. If you have access to the originals {Fan subbed or not} then watch those and be happy man, why stare at the sun when you know in the end you'll go blind?

ill keep watching the fansubs till the series is done with (i wish kf would pick up the pace :emb:

) but i was just hoping there could be something else to look forward to with the series.

its like watching an anime and reading the same manga, sure theyre basically the same, but there are differences, and i enjoy reading/watching both. which is basically what i was expecting in the dub, something else i could watch and atleast enjoy, but nope.

I'm just saying, the pronunciation is not that big a deal; my host mother would try really hard to pronounce 'R' sounds or 'W' sounds, and I just tell her, don't worry too much about enunciating, confidence building is the #1 priority. Fact is few Japanese feel confident enough in their own Japanese skills that they would not pre-emptively engage English speakers in a conversation.

But I understand your point, it's just one more thing on top of all the things you dislike about Funimation.

I do agree that poor translation like from Marines to Navy is bad.

I assume you are talking about DBZ? They release it 'uncensored' now at least. Other than that, everything they've done on DVD hasn't been hacked. They do change opening songs and closing songs to English, but if you want the Japanese op/ed and are watching in English, just switch the language track on the op/ed.

They fucked up Detective Conan on TV, but the DVDs are relatively unmolested (they change some bits of the op/ed I think). Of course it's butchered on TV, but that's TV for you.

I call them Fuckimation for a couple of reasons I don't really want to get into.

It's 4Kids who made the changes, not Funimation. As of right now Funimation has nothing to do with this one. Funimation has, however, secured rights to do an unmolested Shaman King and at least one other 4Satan release. Funimation IS releasing the English only DVD (at least I think they are) and ALSO the unmolested version (with the missing English bits re-recorded) on another DVD.

While I do agree with you on 4Kids, I slightly disagree on Funimation (with the exception of Dragon Ball Z/GT). If they do a better job of the unmolested versions of Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King, I'll be happy. I happen to know the Funi voice actors and they are good at what they do. I hate how they f*cked up DBZ/GT because of the change of music and corney dialogue but they make up for it in Case Closed (Detective Conan), Dragon Ball, Fruits Baskets, and their other shows.

For 4Kids, f*ck them!

With Case Closed, I'm boycotting that release. I realize it doesn't matter how you watch it, since most of the eps are 1 offs, but fuck me. You put out 1 disc from season 1, 1 disc from season 3 and then plan on going through all of season 3 because 'that's where the people who watch the show on TV will need to be in order to watch new episodes.' What about us fuckers who don't watch Cartoon Network Anime? I guess we don't matter.

If you ever need to take part in a Fuckimation return, forget about it. You're better off rebuying whatever it is they fucked up as they don't reply to any form of messaging available.

Yeah yeah it's the same ol shit as always, dating back to when Saban bought the rights to Zyuranger, and Dairanger, and made Power Rangers. It seems that after the Japanese company who made Macross got screwed over on the Robotech deal that Japanese production companies should be more protective of their licenses. Just look at Dragon Ball Z, The series that single hand started the fan sub revaluation in the 90’s, and “was” the biggest anime cult series of all time.

Just be aware that the dub, if anyone chooses to watch it, retains the names from the 4Kids version. People complained about it, but I think 4Kids locked Fuckimation into it's names, so what can you do? Just be glad it's coming to DVD uncut.

I like the original version of YGO (The Japanese) and I figure if Funi is changing the voices and keeping the original music, it might not be that bad. 4kids molested YGO so much it's not even funny! Example: There are some scenes where people were clinching their fists and they cut that out, Jounchi and Honda (Joey and Tristan) fighting each other, people spitting, changing designs on the cards, and they edit the guns and blood. I'm sure soccer moms with sand in their vaginas are just jumping with joy for what they have done to anime by "Americanizing" it. F*ck soccer moms!

You got that right it's all way, been that way for Anime on Tv. These days i don't care any, more becuse big compenys. Like 4kids and Funimation, don't care what fans rant about it. Afther all Anime is a "commodity" in the U.S these days. 4Kids and Funimation will do, what ever it takes to meet FCC standerd's.

Untile the people views on animation, change as only kids entertainment. In this fuck up politicaly correct, so called free country of ours. Anime will be continue to be edited for Amercain Tv, all so to keep parent's happy. :angry:
