I am experiencing some problems with my copy of Ninja Combat when I try to play the game in my MVS (4-slot) cabinet.

The game is recognized by the mother board, and it loads fine when I turn on my cab. But when I select the game to play, I do not get text nor characters on the "how to play" mode (I have "how to play" active in the game's soft DIP). And when I press the A button to play the game, I can hear the game sound, but I do not get any game characters.

I opened the game cart (it is an original game), and cleaned the PCB's contacts. But I still have the same problem. I even took all the other three cartridges out of my cab and tested this cart in every slot to no avail. My Ninja Combat is busted... :crying:

Is there a way to fix this cart, or do I have to hunt for another copy?
Is there someone within these forums that can repair MVS carts?

Any kind of help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Charles

p.s.- I am well aware that Ninja Combat is a lousy game compared to other AAA titles available for the MVS, but once in a while, I love to play this silly game.

What type of Bios chip do you have in the 4 slot mother board?

Can you test it in another mother board..
Or maybe a member here can test it that lives in CA....

The board is an original US version with the original BIOS. The problem is not with my motherboard.

This morning, I was cleaning the cart's PCBs, and I seemed to find out what the problem is. On the first board, the one that is usually on top when the cart is opened, I noticed that one of the metal traces is broken. It seems that that metal trace was repaired at one time because the metal trace is copper instead of the typical silver that can be seen on the rest of the PCB. Anyway, I think that the repair job was a bad one because when I noticed that the metal trace was broken during cleaning, it literrally lifted up from the PCB. Therefore, I think that I found the problem.

I just need to know if there is someone who can repair MVS cartridges. Again, if someone knows of a person that can repair MVS carts, I will greatly appreciate it.

I had someone offer to fix/take a look at this non working Riding Hero MVS cart I have awhile back(in a thread but finding that thread is impossible.

I think it might have been Kenny who can fix them..

Thanks chris1,

I sent a PM to Kenny Boy, and he said that he can take a look at it. But I found some other person, who will take a look at it first. Anyway, I will post an update.

just had this problem..

I realize this is over 6 years old, lol, but I just had the exact same issue described.

I figured out in the cart setup screen, (B,C,D, buttons together at boot) I changed the play time. it seems like if this is messed with the game goes funky. I got it working changing the time to 5 minutes, 59 seconds.

Game works fine now..

Usually it's a backup ram issue. Next time try clearing the backup ram via the hardware test by flipping hard dip 1.
