Saw Shaun of the Dead tonite, absolutely hilarious. Especially great for a fan of Romero's zombie flicks. The movie is mainly just slapstick humor and the such, but god damn was it funny. It takes all those things you ever questioned in zombie movies like "why the fuck are they not doing xyz?" and they do it in Shaun of the Dead. Also the main character Shaun is very identifiable and his sidekick/best bud Ed is hilarious. There were also some of the more serious "survival horror" bits to it, but only towards the end.

I don't want to go to deep into it in fear of giving things away, so just go see it even if you have an inkling of interest in the movie.

Well I absolutely love Romero's works, and unlike a lot of ppl who HATED on Resident Evil Apocalypse also enjoyed that flick, thus I might just take your suggestion to heart. Besides I have a Dark sense of humor and right now I desperately need to laugh at morbid stuff.

Trust me Merc, go see it. I have a pretty good feeling you'll enjoy it ;)

I loved RE2, I thought it was a great action flick. I went in with the lowest of expectations and just had a blast. Sure not your classic zombie flick, but I thought it better captured the essence of the RE games.

Damn straight on RE2 bro, and to me Sienna Guillory/Jill Valentine was also a BIG reason to see the flick. Personally I think she's Hotter than Milla, but that's me. Sienna's better looking as a brunette than her natural blonde, and it was cool seeing her kick ass instead of just being a dame {Guy Pierce's love interest in "Time Machine" at the begining} or being Helen of Troy in the TV movie. I'm wondering how long it'll be before we see a third RE movie, I actually like what they did with the movie series vs the games. ---But I'll head out and check out Shaun of the Dead prolly tomorrow.

If you've got a region free player just buy the R2 dvd from amazon.co.uk (they'll ship to your house no matter where you live).

I've got one and if I remember correctly Average Joe picked one up as well.

To all those who liked Shaun of the dead, check out "Spaced", a british tv series done by the same same guys. Same knid of humour. Probably the best tv series in the last 10 years.

Saw this a week or two ago.

Would have waited to see it in theatres had I known it was so soon to the domestic theatre release, but it was still well worth it.

I can't be entirely sure, but my friends and I headed to the theatre tonight to try to see Mr. 3000 (I've heard it was good from some people) but the place was packed. We were already late and didn't feel like fooling with such a long line.

Tons of high school kids there (as with most Friday nights, I suppose)

We couldn't figure out what everyone was standing in line to buy tickets for (What's new this week? The Forgotten) when it finally hit me after I had gotten home.

Shaun of the Dead was playing there! And I even heard a couple of kids talking about it while they stood next to the poster!

I guess I got confused since I was aware of at least a limited release last week.

I'm not sure how many people are going into this movie expecting it to be British. (The trailer on TV only has one spoken line, and Ed saying "What's up" without the n word didn't sound like it was spoken with an accent)

Is the movie worth going out to the theatres to see, even if you've seen it on DVD? I would say yes. Nothing like seeing this movie with a crowd.

The only difficult thing is to convince people to see it. I campaigned for a week or so trying to get others to see it, but I suppose a British comedy/romance/zombie movie doesn't have broad appeal when I describe it.

But show them the full trailer and they begin to trust me a bit more.

This movie is also likely to disappoint fewer people than Napoleon Dynamite (I swear, half the people I talk to hate that movie, but the fact that it has been showing for 4 months straight at one theatre may prove them wrong)

CLIFF NOTES VERSION

See This Movie! Immediately!

Or get it from CD-WOW. Free shipping worldwide and £1 cheaper to begin with.

It's a great movie. Not too great taken as just a survival horror-thing, but a great comedy and with the survival horror thing it becomes a really great and entertaining movie altogether.

I too, really hope this does well stateside. And I don't see what is so "british" about it, other than the hilarious attacking :)

Me too. I'm crossing my fingers that this gem does well enough to expand to more screens and gets a little closer to where I live. Right now it's playing at a Loews theaters far from my place, so gas price+ass-raping Loews ticket prices would totally dull my excitement for the movie. Oh please oh please play in town.

Just wanted to say I came back from the last screening for Thursday in a theater close enough to my town.

This movie is tops. Even watching some of the jokes for the nth time (watched the trailer lots) is frigging hilarious. Very funny to watch the protagonists of the film cope with not just the Z-crisis (don't call them that!) facing them with 'intuitive' reasoning, but also dealing with the humdrum of daily routine.

I never thought I would wish to see more body parts and entrails strewn about in hilarious manners until I saw this movie.

I really need to get my lazy ass to the theaters, but my roommate probably won't go for it. :(

I guess this will be a solo mission.

I saw it last Thursday, definitely worth it!

One of the funnier movies I've seen recently.

everyone should watch 'spaced' too as it features the whole cast of this film basically and is equally as funny.

I saw it and enjoyed it too. I'm surprised my "one theater town" got this film (albeit long after its release in other theaters...). Best movie money I'd spent since ROTK.

Heck, even my fiancee enjoyed this film, and she usually doesn't like movies with teh gore and what not.

Spoiler sorta:

My only complaint about the film was how many characters died basically all at once (within 3-4 minutes of each other). I was like WTF??? It made the ending easier to tie up, but it was still suprising. I guess it beat the usualy horror cliche of watching people being picked off one by one... but still the movie seemed to come to an abrupt end.

End spoiler:

In a sorta related note, I finally saw Napoleon Dynamite while I was on vacation last week. Good stuff, and I've been hungry for tater tots ever since.

The fact that these two "low budget" movies entertained me far more than I, Robot, Sky Captain, and all the other movies I've already forgotten about this year will hopefully be a wake up call to Hollywood, but I wont' hold my breath.
