hi im kinda new to the whole neo stuff so i have a few questions about it.

1. first.. if i unplug and replace the battery on the mobo will this cause any types of copy protections to trigger ? (like some cps units that clear the data chip containing decryption codes?)

2. hence the orginal battery is very very old can this be replaced with a standard 3V litium batt ? mine messures 1V =/

3. Should the MVS be able to save highscores when powered down ? if yes, is some sort of special hardware required? like the memory module?

4. What is the purpose of connector CN3 (located on the mobo)?

5. if my screen flickers / is unstable is this a cause of dryed caps in the screen section ?

1: Nope, it's just for high score & setting storage

2: I'll have to get back to you on this, not sure myself

3: Yes, no and no

4: Memory-card reader, or credit-counter, if I remember correctly

5: Possibly

I go along with MrLonghairs comments.

#2. NO, never put a lithium where a nicad should be, the charge current will damage it and may lead to all kinds of problems. It must be replaced with a rechargable, lithiums are not, the original is a Ni-Cd 3.6 volt (50 mA/Hr from memory) A Ni-MH would be fine.

The charge current will be different, but not critical.
for that sort of battery it will be softer
