I was about to say, Tempest 2000 has perhaps the best soundtrack to grace any game - ever.

Atari Karts was quite good, don't touch Club Drive as it's the worse game on the system.

I own almost the complete library of Jaguar games, and I would say for starting out you have a great selection of titles, minus the White Men Can't Jump :annoyed: These games you have right here:

At the moment I have:
(1)Cybermorph (of course)
(2) Flashback
(3) I-War
(4) Missile Command 3-D
(5) Doom
(6) Alien Vs Predator
(7) Wolfenstein 3-D
(8) Brutal Sports football

...should give you alot of hours of playtime, especially AvP and DOOM. Jag Doom runs so damn smooth, I love this version. I really like I-War for some reason. It has a really good soundtrack, but it has horrible 3D. However, I find it highly playable as long as you use only the First-Person view, it actually plays alot like Cyber-Sled/Assault Rigs, and has a decent amount of weapons to arm your sled with. Not bad if you don't mind the chunky 3D, I give the Jag credit for pioneering this type of stuff on a console. But when you start buying more games get these:

Protector SE
Tempest 2000
Power Drive Rally(think a prettier version of Thrash Rally)
Raiden(awesome arcade conversion)
Pinball Fantasies
Ruiner Pinball
Rayman
Iron Soldier
Attack of the Mutant Penguins

I would stay away from sports games and fighting games on the Jaguar, unless you are collecting. They are all pretty weak, except for Ultra Vortek. You may like the two different Soccer games available if you like Soccer(Sensational Soccer, Fever Pitch Soccer). Certainly Tempest 2000 should be on your priority list, that game is legendary. If you decide to grab a Jagaur CD unit, get Battlemorph(much much better sequel to Cybermorph). JagCD's are going at a premium these days, with boxed units as high as $200 sometimes. They aren't worth it.

Rayman (best of the Saturn/PS/Jag lot)
Raiden
Tempest 2000
Iron Solider (I liked this when I first got it at release, but now its just blah to me.)

That is all. Have fun gaming :)

Tempest 2000, the only reason I still hold onto my Jaguar. Great soundtrack and gameplay.

Tempest 2000 was the only game I cared to play on the Gagwar. And it was incredibly fun and addicting. Music was totally crank-worthy. I rented the Jag twice with that game for 25 bucks a pop... never bought the system though.

I haven't played it in a while, but I used to play the 2000 mode. It is so fast I can't even see a damn thing lol.

Get yourself a copy of this month's GAMES(tm), the Retro section has a big article on the Jag-waaaaah and should be a good read for you.

I could paraphrase though "... BUY TEMPEST 2000..."

I owned a Jag briefly, but here are my favorites:
*Power Drive Rally
*Tempest 2K
*IS1
*Flip Out

There's a version of Raiden available for the Jag, but I was very disappointed with it. Graphics are close, but the soundtrack is remixed and the levels themselves seem somewhat wider and shorter than the coin-op's.

Just from a collectors point of view, does anyone know how many jaguar games there are? - and I mean carts, im not interested in the CD to be honest.
If the lists not too huge, I may just complete it :spock: but we'll have to see

Power Drive Rally is a really good game. Nice gameplay and graphics. Gameplay is kinda like neo drift out.

There's 58 cartridges, not including a few protos and demos. The library is very small, but its a pain to complete because its hard as hell to obtain a Battlesphere or Battlesphere Gold. Plus, theres about 10-15 games that cost more than you really want to pay for to get...like Breakout 2000 is a $60 game, but its not that great, and WORMS is about the same amount or more, but it's hard to pay that much when that game is so freaking cheap on every other console and PC.

You can still buy the Songbird games brand new thru AtariAge, or at Songbirds website, I think it's www.songbird.net ....these are all very good games and include Protector/SE, Skyhammer, Soccer Kid, and Hyper Force. Kind of expensive but they are limited and pretty fun, especially Protector SE...that rocks.

i think the size of the ship was uneven, that's the only thing that ruined 2000 mode for me.

I don't think it is a pain to get Battlesphere/Gold. If you are willing to pay $250 to 350, you can get that every now and then. It is all about how much you are willing to pay.

It is not like trying to get Kizuna Encounter Euro or anything like that! :)
