I'm assuming everyone in this community either remembers playing the games staring Ralf & Clark {Paul & Vince in America} during their non fighting days of the 80's, or noobs who weren't old enough back then have at least played "TEH ROMZ" of the games. Out of the three games the Pre Neo SNK made which would you say was the best and why? ---I still play these games whenever I see an upright somewhere with them even trying to buy one of them but the distributor only rents them not sells them... go figure? So which would you say is the best?

I vote for IKARI III: The Rescue as it still had the top down style I had come to know from the first two, but had the play mechanics of P.O.W. beating the worthless piss out of the terrorist organization that had kidnapped the President's daughter. Had the best music too, though the first boss made little to no sense with a Mi-24 HIND-D dropping off soldiers with M-16s to shoot at it and when they stopped comming you had to beat up the chopper!

The original Ikari Warriors for me. I dumped a ton of money into this thing as a kid - so many great memories with this one. This game was so simple, yet so ridiculously addictive, I just couldn't stop dropping quarters in it. I couldn't get into Ikari III so much, the difficulty felt a bit off IMO. Maybe I should try it again now that my balls have dropped. :D

Ikari Warriors for me just, like the whole fight in jungle theme to it. Ikari Warriors II dunno i like it back then but,i'm not sure now. Guess i didn't care for, the whole alien theme to it. Ikrai Warriors III no clue never got, to play it in the, Arcades or on the NES.

I prefered Geurilla War really, I played that a lot and bought the Amstrad port by OCEAN.

If I were to pick, have to be Ikari original, most familiar with that.

Ikari 1 (arcade) without a doubt is the best one.

Victory Road is a fantastic coin-op, but the NES version blows. It's like they weren't even TRYING to have it resemble the coin-op in any way.

Ikari 3 (arcade) was fun, but I didn't care much for the switch to hand-to-hand combat. Seemed to be a top down version of P.O.W. more than anything else.

Ikari part 1 hands down. Completely awesome game for it's time. The rotational joysticks and theme were amazing. Although I thought Victory Road was a great game as well....

Another vote for the first one here.

Very cool game, and quite hard to beat. I played it in all forms and shapes (original, ports) and still do from time to time.

The other Ikaris are okay, I mean, nothing special, some new elements here and there, graphical updates, etc., but nothing beats the first IMO.

The first Ikari was the greatest, rotational joysticks and all
:buttrock:

there was nothing better than jumping into a tank when you had already picked up the "F" and "B" power-ups, cuz that was pure death-dealing time
:D

Well it's good to know that the original IKARI WARRIORS game still has "The Love". I'm always torn between #1 and #3. I like part one for the whole Rambo-esque feel of it, but then I like part three for the sheer brutality of it all, beatin' the piss outta' others while taking their weapons and shootin' them D-E-A-Der than Hell. Still pissed SNK never made a fourth installment. Maybe someday someone with Mad Skillz will make a worthy homebrew for the Neo.

Ikari I - The original and the best. Gawd, how much money did I throw in that baby? (ah...wait, my first game room job we had Ikari Warriors so it cost me ZIP!) My number one version.

Ikari II aka Victory Road - Liked the variety and the BG music but the alien theme was the downer. This gets vote #3

Ikari III The Rescue - Pretty cool game...loved stabbing TEH ENEMY on that one :D This was a very close second to the original.

Let's not forget the 'cousins' of the series TNK III and Guerrilla War...both were good games too :)

I like them all plus Guerella War was great also. If I had to pick one, it would be the arcade version of the orginal Ikari Warriors.

Ikari 1 had too much flicker and the color pallete was just way off
Ikari 2 was improved
Ikari 3 I never played I think.

I vote Guerilla War (NES). Best 8-bit commando game ever designed. Sorry Merc :(

Edit: SNK should have ported P.O.W. to NEO GEO. Game fuckin Pwned.

*Before GTA there were two men born to fight... and they're still kickin' ass in the KOF games. Fuck Grand Theft Auto, how 'bout that?

Hey if you dont wanna play one of the greatest games of all time then by all means keep playing your 8 bit wonders. I love those games but really, they are a joke compared to the new gta. I cannot believe faggots hate on that game. :emb:

seriously man, what the hell...you come into this thread filled with fans of the Ikari series and start prattling about how great GTA is and just writing off what this thread is about in the first place, how do you expect folks to respond?

I enjoy the GTA games also, but this thread was about something else altogether so try and keep things in perspective, k?
