I've been playing this game at least 2-3 times a week since i bought it august last year.

I can't believe the game is this fucking good. Never have I played any game so much so often.

Current team: Maxima/Andy/K'

Now, I still haven't figured out Maxima's little 3-4 hit basic move combo and how he can push people away with a few stubby hits. Any advice?

Yeah, it's a great KOF. I don't know why so many people hate on it, as the game's great with a great cast. So the end boss sucks and some music's not so hot. It's still much better than the HORRIBLE BGs and music from 2k1. I love the character cast and the return to three on three, no tag, no striker bullshit.

Ramon, Seth, Vanessa. That's my favorite team. What a group of badasses.

Yes. Just finished a singles game with Vanessa (always satifying), after again unsuccessfully trying to get comfortable with Angel. I'm okay with Angel some of the time, but not consistently. What I need is practice with her against people.

My '02 team is Vanessa, Ramon, and whoever. Angel, if I don't mind losing.

My favorite one, so far (I wish my arcade would follow the trend of other ones and replace 2003 with 2002 already).

Team of choice: Kula, Kyo, Athena

Here are a few things I wrote about Angel awhile back. Maybe some of them will be of some use?

Awesome...from just before I started visiting here. I pasted the whole thing into simpletext...I will now study and learn. Thanks, man.

Can someone please explain to me how you use her DM's appropriately? I can't even do one, and I have no clue what "-&gt" means??? Seriously, I don't know what is meant by that.

Won't happen. Deep down you know 2k3 is the better game, you just can't admit it :p
But 2k2 is a great game anyhow despite the flaws that make me like 2k3 better.

Team of choice: K9999, O. Yash, Iori

Actually, i find '02 to be more solid than '03. Don't get me wrong, I love them both.

Also '02 doesn't have any new gay characters like Ash.

Faggy characters in a fighting game annoy the hell out of me. Perhaps the lack of Choi in '03 is canceled by Ash's presence.

I got a feeling "-&gt" is just some weird formatting thing from the old boards. I was puzzled at first also, but I think it just means "+", as in: b, f, d, df "+"A/C. And her DMs are used either as the finisher of an 'Unchain Circle" or as a counter. That's why you shouldn't focus on using them with her, I think.

2k3 has GREAT bgs and GREAT music. Also, I do enjoy the speed of the game, and the multiple endings are nice, too. However, the removal of 50% of the throws, the way you do throws, and the fact that most CD attacks are gone really pisses me off. If those things hadn't changed, I'd say that 2k3 is one of the best KOFs made.

But, sadly, that's not the case. Still a good game, but then again, I'm KOF's bitch.

Yes, set the difficulty to 8 and watch what the computer does. It plays with him well enough for you to bother taking a few notes. Then start to build on that.

I was still playing best with Athena, Billy & Ryo during the summer. Stupid me forgot the Kusanagi code and well, that was the end of him being on my team.

Give that homecart an extra polish for me eh? I shall e-mail you with pics tomorrow about those manga bookslets by the way.

Exactly. The old board messes up code when you bring it over to Vb :(

You are also right about that being the reason not to rely on DMs with Angel STKid ;)

2002 is addictive, second only to 98, and to some its better.
My team right now is O Yash, Ralf, Chang.

I understand totally why some people prefer 2k2 to 2k3. I (mostly) said that as a poke at Kori since him and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to 2k2/2k3.
I personally like KOF without the CDs. It completely changes the air game and I find it more enjoyable without them. As far as the throws, I don't really care. You still have two directions to throw them in so it doesn't affect gameplay for the majority of characters.

Heh, one of my best teams in 2k3 is the self dubbed "Team Lipstick" of Beni, Ash, Duo Lon.
It's hard to hate on Ash for me in 2k3 when he is such a top tier pimp.

But I do love 2k2. I have tons of fun playing it and it gets a lot of respect from me. It's mostly just that the flaws in 2k2 outweigh the flaws in 2k3 for me so 2k3 gets the upper hand. Both fantastic regardless.

vBulleting parses the old UBB threads differently. This "-&gt" you're referring to means "->", which is the link arrow between a combo, like this:

jD -> sC -> f+A ... etc ...

About KoF2k2, well, it's okay. You see ppl, I'm not complaining about raped charas, missing moves or bugs, I just say this: It's okay.. . .... . .. :D

They did rape Tak pretty bad, but c'mon man, other than that the game is a gem all around :)

I actually prefer Kim's stance in '02 over his old one, and there are some wicked BC cancels to be had ;)

I've smoked the peace pipe with 2k2 after I got repeatedly beaten (or let's call it "buried") by some of my friends who used to be weaker than me. This made me shut up and get down to some serious 2k2 comp... and Takuma... well... let's put it this way, the new Tak can be played VERY effectively. I've found some mean BC cancels and setups that are in no way weaker than his strats/combos of the earlier Kofs, but that doesn't mean I'd enjoy playing with him as much as before.

So, 2k2 is a good game, guess my gripes with it are just a matter of taste.

KoF'02 was the last MVS kit I purchased before I eventually had to get rid of my entire set-up, and I remember when we were playing it we had a fucking blast.
I definitely feel it's only behind '98 in terms of replayability and consistent VS gameplay. There's been so many damn fighters since the OG SFII that BGs and music just don't mean as much anymore...there's a ton of other great fighters I can play if I want those things. '02 is hands down the best KoF in the post-real SNK era.

I hope to God when the KoF'02/03 pack for XBox comes out, they've ironed out the Live issues that plague GGXX#R. I'd LOVE to get regular matches against the NG.com faithful. Plus, there is NO local KoF scene, so it's really my only option.

all KOFs since 2000 are equally great imo, but plays different from each others. that's if you give them a chance. whenever they release a new KOF, I become like "uh no why did they change that or remove that ... etc.", but once I start learning how to play it, my opinion toward it completely changes.

KOF2000: very stressful matches. you need to focus and be catious all the time.

KOF2001: very stratigic (setting traps, cornering .... etc.) and has endless depth.

KOF2002: more basic and needs quick reactions and mind readings.

KOF2003: it's much like a mixture of all the three: offensive tags (2000's strikers) - stratigic (2001) - fast (2002). it also has tight combo/hitting timings, which offers more things to learn.

Kof 2k2 is easily my favorite kof. The character roster is just amazing, vs. play is incredible, playing k9999 vs. Shermie makes me excited, in a sexual way.

Loopz- Played 2k2 for xbox at TGS. It's amazing. They touched up the backgrounds but really kept the feel of the original. It's going to be great online. Can't wait to pit my shermie against some neogeo.com peoples! It gonna be awesome.

Current Team- Shermie/Joe or Billy/Terry
