Effing sick of this shit. The Bush tax policy just flies in the face of fiscal conservative policy, and even Bush 41 said the Reagan brand of Trickle-down economics was just a lot of Voodo Economics. Both Reagan and Bush 41 raised taxes to reign in the ballooning deficits, but Bush 43 will just listen to his ideologues and his base to enact short-sighted policy while in the midst of 2 nation-reconstruction effort, in the face of ballooning health care costs, in the face of tuition inflation. Vote your conscience.

The triclke down theory didnt work ...period . If you give the rich more money there just going to put it in a savings account there not going to share it with the people with less money them thmselves or they might buy a Ferarrai .

The difference between that and Bush $43 policy is that everyone got at least a certain tax dollar credit back to the rich this isnt a big dollar figure but to the average american this unexpected $300-500 means a new tv , clothes or other consumable items .

LOL, me thinks you're pretty pissed because Bush is still showing a pretty good lead in the polls now.

To be honest I've come full circle and will be voting for Bush in November. Not because of his tax policy though. I have some pretty good reasons for it, but it's something personal to mostly me and I'm not going to post on an internet forum. And no before you even start it's not for religious reasons.

i dont pay much attention to politics, but is this similar to OG Bush's "No New taxes" campaign to try and get more votes for the sake of trying to get more votes?

No, what incensed me was wasabi's dickhead posts. I'm not concerned about the polls to be frank. Bush is just screwing up way too many things, but it concerns me that some people will be voting on Bush's tax policy alone.

I don't think anyone votes on religious reasons alone to tell you frankly. The only thing Bush seemed to have going for him was his good story about being a born-again Christian, but his policy seems to be antithetical to his belief.

I also find that it makes no sense members wouldn't divulge their vote on a clearly unscientific poll like this one. It's not binding, purely for entertainment purposes.

HA!

I know many individuals who vote on soley religious beliefs, if you saw how many it actually was I'm sure it'd drive you up a wall.

BTW, not that I can speak for him, but I'm guessing wasabi's posts a while ago was more in jest than anything else.

Why? We're voting for president, not for the Pope.

God appoints religious leaders. And then they get into sex scandals with altar boys.

I think you don't know the english cliche' I used.

Saying "I've come full circle" means I've come back to my original position after changing my mind once already.

I originally supported Bush, subsequently I got quite a bit angry with what he'd had done and wanted to punish him by getting him out. Now that I've examined the alternatives fully I still think Bush sucks but I think he sucks less than Kerry does.

Like I said, I'm not going to get into my reasons for coming back to voting for Bush, they're specific mostly to me and it's personal enough that I don't want to post it publically.

So yeah, I said I changed my mind before search ever did. :p

God doesn't directly appoint religious leaders, at least we don't preach that in my faith.

All things considered many people believe abortion is evil and wrong and support Bush because he'll make it illegal again. They also like many of his other religiously influenced policies.

So they vote for him, it shouldn't be so surprizing.

I love how you tried to nip that in the bud. About people voting for Bush because he'll make abortion illegal...I think he says he'll make it illegal, which is a different thing (and he may even try). I think a lot of his religious stances are just lip service. When Time magazine asked him if he ever prayed for Saddam, his answer was a flat 'no'. When they tried to explain the whole 'praying for your enemy' thing, he said, "Well, I don't know. Maybe I'll pray for him now," or something. Whatever.

About trickle down ecconomics, this is what I've used for 20 years to throw in the face of Republicans as an example of how little effort their leaders put in to hiding their true motivation, which is to help the wealthy, white male, at the expense of everyone else. It was a completely ridiculous idea, even at first glance. As Xavier pointed out, the rich socked away the money instead of spending it...that's what they do...that's why they're rich in the first place. If you want to funnel money into the ecconomy, give it to the idiots who can't hang on to a dime and have 5 maxed out credit cards. They'll spend whatever you give them. Anyhow, Trickle Down Economics was proven beyond any doubt not to work in the slightest. If nothing else, I got to hand it to Bush...he's got nuts trying to bring this up again.

Bush, mainly because I value national security, and I value the US's incredible power over the entire world.

And if it means you'll have to put up with some rich kids driving ferrari's around town from the vantage point of your used miata, so be it.

US economic growth is at record levels (7.9% GDP growth), the previous record being set in 1984.

The idea that republicans are out to stiff the working poor to make the rich richer is preposterous. Our economy which is all based on consumer spending would come crumbling down if the republicans achieved what you claim they're trying to do.

If the poor stop spending then there would be a huge market crash in terms of stocks and realestate, the two largest areas where the rich keep most of their assets. They'd be devastated.

Republicans, being for the wealthy people as you claim, have a vested interest in keeping the economy healthy. And we actually are in a healthy economy, otherwise Kerry wouldn't have changed his home stretch campaign focus from the Economy to the War in Iraq if it wasn't. And if the unemployment numbers were as high as people claim they were (statistics show lower unemployment than when Clinton ran again in '96), Bush wouldn't be on track to winning the election.
