Highest scores and world records

I'm getting stupid, I know: while reading here and there on the forums I was unable to find anything about highest scores and videogame's world records, a place full of thread where people proudly post their highest rankings ever, with video/photo-proofs of what they claim.

Tell me I just didn't notice, because if I'm not that stupid the "Records" room need to be created; all these hours wasted in front of a screen must be reguarded in some way... I mean, if you master arcade mode in Soul Calibur, with 2 rounds x character at ultra-hard level in less than 2'30"00, you must be SOMEONE!
Why don't show the world howmuch you rule???
DAMN! You smashed every piece of ship in Ikaruga without being hit????? Just post your score and we will worship you!
Even your super high results in Shadow of the Beast are welcome.. just let us know in the new upcoming forum's area someone HAVE TO open!

I'd love to have a High Score forum dedicated to neo games. I think we had
asked for this before, but don't remember when. The gameplay forum is the
closest thing you might ever get.

Starting hiscore threads and keeping them up-to-date is a form of online gaming as well, so IMO, we should post stuff like that in our new Online Gaming forum.

We could start two threads for each game, one for strat discussion and one for the actual hiscore lists. This way, the hiscore threads would still be easy to read because longish discussions would take place in another thread. Mixing it all together in one huge thread doesn't work very well, see the shmups thread in Unrelated, it's great for those who followed it from the start, but for all others it's hard to get into with its 55+ pages.

What do you all think?

the sad truth is, not too many people here are concerned about high scores, which really is a shame I try to take part in any "high score thread" if it's a game I'm interested in.

I sort of like Tak's idea to have dedicated threads for each and every game. An existing thread may spur the motivation for people to post gameplay-related information on the more obscure games. And would give us an official thread to point people to the next time, say, someone asks how to beat Dr. Muckly on NAM-1975. Of course, these forums would be quite cluttered if threads are made for each and every game, but.... if it increases more traffic on actual gameplay related matters, then I'm all for it.

There was always a lot of concern with people fabricating scores since most do not own digital cameras to offer proof and enough people out there have such inferiority complexes that they would feel the need to post nonsense.

One could argue that such would not matter since high scores serve one main purpose to the end viewer, which is motivation to improve one's own score, but I digress.

Great idea guys. I was thinking about starting a Neo high score thread after people started posting their Strikers 1945 II scores in the all about shooters thread. It should be for any Neo Geo game, not just a select few titles.

I do and I'm sure there's still quite a few of us here who still play for high score.
