Doom 3 Problem

I just tried playing Doom 3 for the first time in awhile and it's giving me an error "CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game"

Now since I last played I got a DVD burner and Clone DVD, but nothing is running so I really can't disable anything.

Anyone know what the problem is here?

Sounds like youre running a virtual drive.

Turn it off in Clone CD (or alcohol or whatever is making it)

Asshole copy protection schemes. Depends on the type they're using, but if you have a virtual drive, disable it and try to see if it runs. If that doesn't work it means they have the uber-asshole protection which won't run the game if it detects that you even have the software installed.

It sucks.

To get it to run you've got to do one of two things.

1.) Uninstall the copying software.

2.) Go to www.gamecopyworld.com and download the tiny little crack file for Doom 3 (back up your original executables first, just in case).

Option 2 works great.

I downloaded it and installed it via Daemon-Tools with no probs. Sucks if you actually paid for that crap and you're having trouble.

That'd probably do it. I don't have the virtual drive stuff on my PC, but I'm sure that it'll take care of it though.

Yar looks like it's detecting the program and not the drive, I went into Alcohol 120% options and set it to have 0 virtual drives and I still get the problem.

Guess I'll check out this no cd patch.

I have no idea what your talking about.

I installed a "back up" copy with serial and it works fine. Oh, and I added the "no cd" patch as well.

Nah, it isn't id that puts this on there, it's the publisher.

Should be "Fuck you Activision".

Id is pretty benevolent, they'll release the source code for this game in probably a year or so, just like they have for the past big games they've done.
