Okay,

I'm about to start a new game tonight. I haven't played it in years, but I want to start out right. Anyone able to give me some hints as to what to do when starting? I've always had problems with Wygraff (spelling) when playing this. I always use my birthday (april 6) when it asks, but I know affinity for hitting effects what your birth sign in compared to others. Anyone have hints as to what I should do early?

I want to do the ultimate game, as in the past I've had hard times with the game. Maybe a good website or faq that some of you have used?

Awesome game...one of my favs.

Well I'd suggest you keep Agrias in your party...I never did, but she's pretty awesome with those holy knight skills.

And well, until you get Cid...just level up some more. And get Knights in the beginning, these guys help a lot.

The only battle I ever had a problem with was the one against all those damn red chocobos...

Yeah knights at the beginning for sure, though they really are awesome through the whole game. A knight/chemist team should have no problem with the wygraff battle and you might want to try out some monks slightly afterward as their status/healing abilities are awesome and dont cost mp or ap.

I tried the whole affinity thing once and got a headache... better to just run in with leveled up troops and dominate.

cloud is virtually worthless even if you cheat.

ok, you already beat the game once validly, right?

want to have some real fun?

get a gameshark and put the following characters in your party:

Celia (Assassin)
Balmafuda (Arc Witch)
Olan (Astronomer)

also try to change the battle room coordinates so that you start fights in weird places, like rooms where the cut scenes occur, such as the church in the beginning. .

I mean, the gameshark just completely opens up a whole new game.

GAWD, why did I leave all my game systems behind in DC... I so want to play that game again.

Gameshark is the cheap way of finishing it...though I had to admit finishing all the levels in under 5 hours was kind of fun. The ultimate fighter: monk with the ninja powers...delivering 999 x 2 damage to the bosses...gotta love it :)

Cloud is a wimpy character. The robot is cool and getting the Zodiac power in the dark cave...gotta love that...hmmm...maybe it's time to pull out my FFT and start playing it again :buttrock:

BTW, has anyone ever mastered the Calculator's powers? Every time I change a character into a Calculator and try and use the abilities, I end up taking out half my team :annoyed:

Other cool things: Making all the monsters come on your side with the Mediator (and catching the red Chocobo.Heh) and equiping it with a cold gun and the Knight's breaking abilities and busting everybody's weapons and powers at long range :D

I remember my ninja (his name was Spike, ironically) I had him steal every piece of genji equipment Elmdor had on him....good times....

With Gameshark I'd only add Gafgarion and Olan, though....

BTW, nothing but respect to Spiegel on this one...FFT is always a good game to revisit.

I love turning the enemies into chickens and hate being turned into a frog :envy:

Well, what I like to do after beating an rpg multiple times is pimping my characters out insanely in a short amount of time. That's what I did for my current file. I got everyone with 2 swords, auto-potion, blade grasp, and a few others before going to Sweegy (Or is it Sweggy?) Woods.

Okay, I'm sick to have to say this, but I just started the game, and I already failed a mission. Game over. I decided to save what's his name instead of kill the thieves. Bad idea. That stupid idiot died, and there was literally nothing I could do to save him. He just keeps fighting even though he has no health. How pathetic is that? Second mission, and I already got a game over. Jesus I suck at this game. Heh.

I'm going to focus on everyone getting auto potions and I won't be so quick to change classes this time. I'll rack up the jp before switching back and forth, this time.

The best way to build up your forces...have them all be the same character. All squires except one chemist. Builds up your job points faster. How? Any time you kill an enemy, every member gets the job points of the person who killed him. Max out your squires and then go half chemists/half knights, using the squire's powers as your secondary power. That pattern works for me every time at the start of the game.

from the beginning, let Delita die, and then kill every enemy but one character, then gang up on him and surround him, but don't kill him, just do a bunch of shitty stone attacks or yelling, something stupid that raises exp and jp. Do this for a while and you'll have a stronger Ramza who can flaunt some abilities...

Nothing like stoning an enemy to death :tickled:

Once Ramza gets the "accumulate" power, every time his turn comes up, just use that to raise JP and exp without attacking an enemy ;)
