Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason ... gonna be tops or dumps?

I loved the first movie, it does have that kind of sappy Jane Austen-like soap opera drama feel to it, but there were lots of twists and unexpected surprises as well as a lot of modern sensibilities instilled into it to reinvent the whole romantic comedy genre, I thought. I didn't expect a sequel after the fairy-tale ending of the first, and the trailer only seems to confirm my worst fears... it feels like Bridget Jones's Diary redux. What are your thoughts?

It would be called Bridget Jones's Diary II: The Destruction of Bridget. *Seriously though, I got dragged into seeing the first one with my then fiancee/now wife, and ended up actually liking some of it. Though IMO, Wicker Park is a better movie in the same vein. I personally don't see the need for a sequel to this film... I mean really, who cares? Thus unless I get dragged into seing this one I won't.

*It'll probably be a hit with all the women of the world, also dragging their men along to see it, but to me I say BOMB! :angry:

Bridget Jones sucked balls. It just conforms to British stereotypes, and women the world over drool and go "aahhh, how cute", and I die a little inside.

I know, the whole movie is a little bit what the Japanese call 'Cinderella Syndrome (Shindorera Shoukougun)' but the whole Ugogirl and woman-take-charge spirit helped elevate Bridget Jones above the role and will of pussy-footed women who waited for gentlemen callers, in my opinion.

It wont be anything on the first one IMO, they spoil all classic films with a second sitting.

IMO they should of made another "Four Weddings and a Funeral" That was a class film, loads better than Bridget Bones teh fat slag that ate all the pies.

P.S. I bet Renee Takes it up the trumper!

This much is true, it's not like I went to see CHICAGO for Zellweger it was of course for Catherine Zeta Jones and her hot self. ---Still due to my lack of Zellweger fandom, I want her Bridget Jones's character to experience Euro wang in all holes and no cut away shots, only smash cutting to a massive Bukkake and her being forced to take a dump on a phone book.
