Just bought a cab... Thinking of making a cps2 from it.

This is the cab I bought. an Old 8-liner video poker cab. I know it wouldnt be the prettiest CPS-2 cab, but I love the wood grade, and I would get a matching speaker screen and putting it to the right of the one on the machine. Id probably at this point custom build a large, 6 button panel, and mount the board inside for easy changing, and perhaps down the road, us a Golden Tee Fore Lit display as a marquee holder for a Capcom game. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Gonna cost a lot to get up and running since it has no monitor, but a decent looking cab.

Congrats...

Moose are you able to pick things up from this seller..?..(I deal with him a lot)

He has some decent stuff listed sometimes..
He just had an empty ST-V cab listed and awhile back two empty Big Reds at seperate times.

I don't live close enough to him..but for someone who does this guy could be a gold mine.

I was actually talking about the cab you bought with another member..
Discussing what could be done with it etc...
So you would attach a large, 6 button panel on the front of the cab..
Hmm..I never though about that..
I guess you'd have to put a 13 inch monitor in this yes..?

Do you have a pic of a Golden Tee Fore Lit display ..I'd like to see what that looks like.

Let me know how it turns out..

The project shouldnt cost too much to complete. Im sure my dad has some extra monitors, PSU, and Harnesses lying around, so no big.

Creating the panel could be a wittle twicky though. I would like to find some of that capcom control panel overlay (looks like a bluish steel floor with "capcom" grazing the overlay diagnolly) I want it too be the width of the cab, but to stick out far, ive always liked that arm rest while playing. Ill find some plexi glass to cover the lay. Id build the whole panel out of smoothed ply wood, and i would like to find some perhaps similiar "sticky paper" resembling the wood grade on the cab to top of the ply wood on the panel, making them look similar. Follow me? I hope. Can anyone refer me to somewhere i can find this materrial, (let alone tell me what its really called?)Im also looking for one of those monitor overlays you throw under the glass over the monitor (you know, with the comic like scenes around the edges) Anyway, ill upload a couple pics of things, concepts, the joystick i thought of using, and the golden tee lit display (if I can find one)
Open to comments. Thanks!

Isn't this operator a female?

I wish I lived close enough to em' to be able to pick up all of her CPO's..... I didn't like the time she shipped me a MV-FZ. Sent it 2nd class in a beat up box.

I've talked over lots of emails with the seller, also joking about stuff but never thought it could be a female....

Nice person in general...

Oh yea...The way he or she ships ... :(
Most things I've got from them were just thrown in a beat up boxes and shipped.
The last thing I got from that operator was a Happs MVS type Power supply/Isolation transformer and MVS wiring harness with misc parts (spare stuff to have)
The box was so weak the wires from the harness were coming out of the bottom of the box when it got here and the top was open .One small piece of tape was used to seal the box and that didn't hold..

It was like someone threw a box of heavy Arcade parts in an open box on my front stairs. :eek_2: I could hardly pick up the box without it collapsing.
I have no clue how this made it through the mail..and nothing was missing.

I picked up this woodgrain Contact Paper for my Neo Gold.. I've found rolls that are darker and some lighter though nothing as dark as your cab..

I found it at a dollar store afer looking for this type stuff at Home Depot with no luck.
I'm also looking for black that no hardware store seems to carry.

I've found Blue,Red,Green and many other colors in the dollar stores.
It's not cheap stuff..just stuff the dollar stores get somehow.(overstock)

The woodgrain contact paper may be found in a Home Depot or hardware store though..The Home Depot I went to just didn't have much of a variety and I figured maybe I'd get lucky at a dollar store since I've seen tons of this stuff stacked up in them.

I happen to have some black contact paper if you need some. Pure black. Its not a super smooth finish, its like if you rub your handover your neo geo cab +2 (sounds so naughty) Let me know if youd like any.
Thanks for the tip about the woodgrain! Tha looks perfect, even though its a little brighter

Thanks Moose..
I'll let you know..

.
The next time I go to that particular dollar store I'll take a check to see if they have anything darker.

NOTE:
Remember, the seller of your cab takes these machines apart and sells most of the parts on Ebay..usually at the same time or after the sale of the empty cab.
Otherwise he trashes everything and may give you something he's going to trash

So he might have something listed right now for that cab that you may need and might find hard to find later in time....

The seller has Bezels listed right now in different sizes.

..
I was aquiring about an empty Big Red he had once..
And he noted that he'd throw in the PS/Glass/wiring and other parts for the cab that otherwise he'd list or..trash..

For the life of me I could not remember the name of that operator (drmoonsparkle) when you asked..

I never really called him by his first name in emails..

But his name is Mark..
