I would have bought it at 200, but this just leaves room for a game to go with it.

slated for release on November 21
release in Japan on December 2.

We actually get it first?

$150, huh? Sounds good to me.

Guess I'm picking this up, along with a Turkey and some Pumpkin Pie this Thanksgiving.

It's great we get the launch a few weeks earlier then Japan. Hope there's no territorial lockout, unlike the GBA SP.

and Game Boy/GB Color games will not be backwards compatible with the DS...

No surprise there...

...although all Game Boy Advance games will work with the system in single-player mode.

WTF? So this means that regular GBA games aren't wireless linkable on the DS? WTH is the point then?

From Nintendo.com:
In effect, Nintendo DS already boasts a library of more than 550 games because it is compatible with single-player modes of games made for the world’s best-selling video game system, Game Boy Advance SP.

I know that SP's WiFi multiplayer adaptor is to be used only by some new game that support wireless but hell comeon... Nintendo couldn't figure out how to make existing SP games wireless-compatible with this WiFi adaptor AND the DS too?

If you ask me, SP's and DS's should all be able to talk together wirelessly, with the appropriate equipment. Nintendo is banking on us owning both a SP and a DS at the same time.

Snide, if you ask me.

All I can say is that I hope the DS screens look better than the crappy, dull, dim GBA screen, or the ugly washed out GBA/SP screen. If they are nothing more than two slightly larger SP style screens (aka, frontlit and washed out), then the whole thing is a total waste of time and money. And, I can't believe they are using a d-pad again and not an analog controller of some sort, as the d-pads on the GBA and SP are utter trash, they cause major pain on your thumbs for action style games . . . :annoyed:

The DS will COME with pictochat embedded!! (A DS will spring to life when it detects a nearby DS so the owners can chat wirelessly!!!!)

Also, it will come with wireless 4 player Metroid Prime Hunters demo!!!

At 150? Fuck, I'm sold.I AM SO FUCKING THERE!

http://dsmedia.ign.com/ds/image/art...o-ds-launch-details-20040920103245559-000.jpg

"The Nintendo DS, it's upcoming dual-screen handheld system, will launch in North America on November 21st for a retail price of $149.99."

Also, PictoChat, the software program that enables DS owners to sent text and pictures wirelessly to nearby DS systems, will be embedded in the system hardware. The DS system will spring to life out of "sleep mode" if it senses any other systems in the area, giving gamers the opportunity to chat spontaneously with each other.

Also, Metroid Prime: First Hunt (which appears to be the new name for MP: Hunters) may be bundled with the system (like how Mario used to be bundled with the NES and SNES).

cool! :multi_co: :multi_co: :multi_co:

It means that the GBA SP price will drop to the same price of the classic GBA, and th DS will cost the same of the actual GBA SP, here in Brazil.

Well, that way I'll be able to by 4 GBA SPs to my GC setup ;)

It could at last have the GBA link cable slot... I would love to use it as a controller in Zelda 4 Swords and FFCC... :(

That's why it isn't supposed to substitute the GBA...

I will have one on release day. :D

Embedded pictochat and the metroid demo is just the icing on the cake.

You're asking a lot. Most games need to be programmed to be wireless compatible. Sure, a work around probably could be found, but that brings me to my next point, which addresses your last comment:

Anyone buying the Nintendo DS more than likely already has an SP. Probably 90+%. People seem to forget that it takes a lot of effort to make systems backwards compatible. And the cash and research that go into that make the system cost more. I'd rather have a cheaper price and a system that does what it does well than one that lets me do everything. Look at the NGage for shit's sake. That thing does a lot and doesn't do any of it well!
