Any game for any console, out there or not anymore.. just name the

HARDEST VIDEOGAMES EVER!!!

I'm picking Ikaruga as my choice, since I don't remember many of the nearly impossible games I had on Amiga, but I'm talking about 10+ years ago.
Well.. the choice is yours now!

Id say mystic defender and thunderblade for the sega genesis are hard games never beaten them still and have tried cheating with emulators as well .

Is quartet on on the arcade beatable or does it just keep going , Ive played it all day several times at the arcade till my fingers blisterd up ...does this game ever end ?

Stole my vote .... :crying:

Anyway - Ghosts 'N Ghoblins was/is a fucking brutal (although still enjoyable, IMO) game. I swear, I almost cried when I beat the game for the first time, and then found out that you had to beat it with the crosses or you'd get sent to the beginning.

The original Castlevania was also pretty damned tough. The big, devil-looking thing that came out after Dracula was a pretty rough boss.

And one last NES entry, The Legend of Zelda, 2nd quest, was quite difficult for me back in the day. Essential items were hidden in the strangest of places, IMO, and as a youngster I found it to be a pretty formidable challenge.

 I threw a temper fit from hell the first time that happend to me.

The first time I "almost" beat Ninja Gaiden for the NES, I had the final boss down to 2 blocks of life left, I still had almost full life. I was excited as hell, knew I'd finaly beat that game. Then my nintendo froze up on me. :blow_top:

Battletoads. I win.

I never even managed to beat the third level, where you ride the hoverbikes.

-Batman and Robin(Genesis & Sega CD versions)

-Xmen(Genesis)

-Strider(Arcade, PS, Genesis)

-Thunder Force V(PS version)

I couldn't either until I played teh roms. Even when I played it on the roms I still couldn't get past this one part where you were timed to get to the bottom of this one stage before one of the bad guys got to you or you got squished. This game was brutal along with:

SF2 (Vega is just too damn tough)
Art of Fighting 1 and 2 (Damn... just damn)
Tecmo Super Bowl (Some teams had that tough defense and It was hard winning w/o cheating)

SS 3- The opponent blocks too much!!

Rockman/Megaman X 1 & 2. Last bosses are too doggone hard!!

Alien Soldier. Its default difficulty setting is Super hard. :oh_no:

And it pathetic when you cant beat the "first" boss when you just start playing the game.

I'd probably say either Sin and Punishment (especially the sequence where you're trying to stop the bullet from hitting Saki) or Superman 64 (the training level is the ultimate endurance test).

Maybe because you attack to much. Approach is everything. Wait for an opening, and don't run in swinging. SS3 is really not that hard once you have enough time with it. Now if you're used to SS4, SS3 AI is going to destroy you.

It is certainly not close to being "hardest game of all time".

From what I've played:

-AOF2 (Lord knows I've tried time and time again)
-Herzog Zwei (No, just no)
-Magician Lord (After Stage 2, it's all downhill from there)
-CarnEvil (I won't attempt this at the arcade back home unless it's Ten-Buck Tuesday)
-3 Count Bout (Once upon a time, I did make it to Stage 4)
-Battletoads (Unless I hit the hidden warp in Stage 3 that leads to Stage 5, it's fucking pointless)
-TMNT:Turtles in Time (Hard as hell fun fun as fuck and makes the SNES vers. look like a training mode)
