Hey folks, recently got GGXX#R for my XBOX and have tried playing on XBL, and man its been hit or miss. I play CvS2 online ocassionaly, but the lag really gets to me, but at least the connection speeds are accurate. Playing GGXX#R I've connect to an Excellent that played like a poor and played a Good like he was playing on the system as me. Problem is, I've only had this happen once and quickly put this guy on my buddy list.

My problem with the lag is that I can't buffer my moves or predict. People just slam on the Heavy Slash button playing as Anji and all I can do is either use Anji back, or hope a hole opens for a second and get a few strikes in. Some people are cool and change it up, but of course most go for rank. With the lag basic poking techniques are useless, Roman canceling timing is broken, and executing special moves is hit or miss.

So are there anyways to cut down on lag? Does pulling the voice communicator help? Are there ways to change my strategies to may playing with online lag enjoyable? Or I am, worst of all, just being a big baby? I'lll keep trying to play online until my records turns into an horrendous 2-57 or something of that nature :p

I have that same question. I myself am not so sure. I have played mostly good to excellent connections and have noticed lag in even excellent connections. I really hope they work on the servers. The other annoying quirk is the buddy list that keeps going back to the top name after you scroll down for a second or two. That is very annoying and it's touch and go to get to the end of my list.

I've had massive problems with this game that don't occur for me on any other XBL games. Our cable system was even recently upgraded with a faster upload speed. GGXX#R needs some massive help with the lag for sure.

If only XBL wasn't a closed system...people could run their own fucking servers and we wouldn't have to deal with this shit.

Ah so I'm not the only one. I thought MS did the match making process, I thought the player's XBOX would host?

I live in Canada, and so far my GG online experiences have been ass.

When I have trouble even selecting my character because the game is so laggy, I just give up.

Its a shame, but if I have the same troubles during my next couple of sessions I'll consider this a black eye on the online fighting game front. I'll be less likely to re-buy any other "live" fighting games in the future.

This isn't a knock against live, as I've played many many other live games and been happy with them all. GGXX is just so sub standard in terms of online stability (possibly due to my location... I haven't seen any players with better than poor/bad lag speeds) its not even funny.

Coaster or keeper?, we'll have to wait and see.

Sometimes it takes a little time for them to get things ironed out. The game is still new, and (for the company responsible for the servers) it's their first online game. While some people have been getting some good matches, I hear it's basically a problem they'll have to fix.

Needless to say, while one should expect the online experience to be great, even early on; don't be too surprised when a game's online experience has a shaky start. Even games without such fast response dependancies (like online RPGs) have had some pretty shaky starts. The good news is, it's generally fixable from their side.

Also, you can't assume an Xbox Live game doesn't have a similar setup of (who's the server) as Xbox-Connect. Not all Live games run on various company servers. Some do have it so that the player's run their own games, just like Xbox-Connect (ala. Return to Castle Wolfenstein).

It's up to the individual company as to how their Live setup is done, who's responsible for the server-load, etc. For instance, when you start an online game by EA, EA controls everything (even with Live), so if there's a server-related problem, only EA can answer for that. Similar case for Capcom, who did make quite a few strides to improve their service for CvsS2.

The main thing Xbox-Live does is ensure easier integration for using stuff like Headphone/mic Communication, Friends connectivity, setting up Clans, content download, player regulation (so that there is some sort of punishment or denial of service to people who do offensive or malicious acts), etc.

Unless I play someone with an excellent connection its utter shit . Yesterday I had to decline about 10 matches because even if the person has a fair or good connection its lag city .

PS we have an online forum .............
